Hot poop an SDCC rider. Tell Flynny he's fat and needs to give up...

Weather for Sunday's V.T.T.A 25 on H25/2 looks pretty shite, if the wind and rain predicted arrives I think I roll over and stay in bed, shame really as I won it last year and quite fancied 1 last blast before the TT bike goes into hibernation, that'll mean 2 events left HDW hill climb and maybe the F&CCC Xmas 10 on H10/8 although I'm planning on riding that on 72" just to see what I can do although if it's 2 degrees in December I probably won't start that either!!!! 36 races this year and all of a sudden bang! Season over!

predicted
I'm yet to see an accurate weather forecast in this country so I don't know why people worry about it until the night before/morning of.

I have not ridden the TT bike this year. Not a single event.
I feel like riding the Shiv in the club hill climb just so it gets a clean this year.

I know what you mean hippy, I'll pack the car and set the alarm..........

That sucks, who and where was that? I've just watched the BBC weather again! Phil Avery reckons "a very wet and windy Sunday" great!!! Think I'll go on the rollers in the garage and watch YouTube if I don't race, last couple of weeks have been a disaster, races abandoned, cancelled due to road works and postponed!

Don't really remember. Maybe up near Bedford? F course? I would've been training for the 24hr so probably viewed the whole thing as training miles. Nowadays I can't be arsed with that kind of nonsense, ie. I took the train to the office this morning because it was a bit damp.

Yer, I see what you mean hippy, all that way, the longest ride I've ever done for a 12 is 80 miles, I can't be arsed to go out for 6 hours, I was talking to Rob Richardson (ex Hounslow, now rides for the Chippenham) next year for prep for the 12 he reckons I should go out an do 150 mile rides!!!!! The thought makes me shake!!!!!

If I went out for 80 miles, it would be a 6 hour ride :)

Most of the 12s were after the 24hr so I was doing big miles for that already.
When the Newbury 12 was added I finally got a 12hr in before the 24hr and came second to Topham with 293ish miles which is pretty good for a broken drunk but that year I was training for a crack at the LEJOG record so once again was doing big miles. Volume has worked for me, other, faster riders spend a LOT less time on their bikes. Obviously I consider that cheating. :)

I think there's scope for a really good rider to smash the 12hr record - if they focus on it.
I'd argue that a lot of the current top 12hr riders (with the exception of Alice Lethbridge) aren't training optimally for the 12 and are only winning because they're great athletes, rather than being great athletes who are training specifically for the 12.

I had to DNS the circuit championships on Sunday due to impending wisdom tooth removal. The pain means I've struggled to work, eat, drive, etc., let alone train or mentally prepare myself for a long drive and a race.
Is anyone racing?
I definitely want to race on a racetrack at some point.

I did a chuckle.
But then I thought, hang on, a guy who's paid to ride complaining about the aero arms race. Hmm...
-
• #16642
The only people who moan about the aero arms race are the ones who are losing it ;)
-
• #16643
Did he lose a TT recently?
The ones 'losing it' are the ones not prepared to buy new kit every 3 months to keep up.

I bought new kit once. I couldn't bring myself to use it it was too nice.

Paid?
There’s no money in cycling! -
• #16647
I don't know anything about him but if he doesn't have a full-time job then >>>
-
• #16648
You too. Let's swap for a year and see how well your training goes. :P
-
• #16649
Ha! I’d get you fired within the first week. I don’t so well with structured working hours.
-
• #16650
I don't have structured working hours :)
Actually, I am closer to a normal 9-5 style job now but that's mostly because I don't give a fuck any more and my time is more valuable than their money.
Maybe I should get a job at Deliveroo - it's the only chance I have of being paid to ride :)
I'm not sure Team Deliveroo skinsuits are up to scratch though...
Thanks @tommmmmmm . It was a really nice day, and despite a lot of queuing traffic at the turn, I managed to get above 25mph which I have not been able to do for 25 on that course. How did you get on @onyerbike ?
