I'm driving to the Cambridge CC 25 and I'd be very happy to drive you as well, especially if you could get to Stratford, or even better, Forest Gate.

Awesome. I'm hoping that an achilles niggle will clear up
by the weekend. I'll pm you. -

I'll be knackered too because the start of the football season has collided with the end of the TT season and I couldn't choose between them so I'm doing both. Hopefully this is as flat as it looks and will be more forgiving than the F1o/25 was on Sunday.

I've done the 10 course a few times. It is really flat, but I've had bad luck with the weather (and I was really hungover one time).

I'll be at the Cambridge CC 25. Look out for someone in a battered old green Mini.
How will the forecasted 10mph NNW wind affect the course? From Streetview it looks like it's set in a cutting.

I've never done the F2A/25 course, but I've done the F2A/10 and the F2D/10 courses which run over the same bits of road. It's pretty exposed, particularly west of Cambourne and around Bourne airfield. The vegetation on the north side of the road should provide some cover on the way back, but you'll definitely notice the wind when you go past the airfied and on the run up to Caxton Gibbet RAB. Most of the course definitely isn't in a cutting.

I must have kept dropping the man on streetview in the same place then :0D
Thanks for the info.

Not too bad, cheers. Quickest 25 for two years, 58:43. I'd missed the first half of the season with back problems along with ditching TTing for 'training' for the Etape so pretty pleased. Didn't get enough warning from the decision to go ahead to squeeze in the turbo so froze to death up and down the road trying to warm up.
Definitely the correct decision to postpone for 30 mins tho. The first lap was still fairly misty but cleared nicely on the second. Couple of idiotic punishment passes sadly including one who undertook a car that had moved right to the outside lane to give me plenty of room which marred an otherwise pleasant morning. Would definitely ride the course again, hopefully in warmer conditions!

Was pushing off at my club's open 25 at Marlow this morning. Loads of DNSs and a good few late starts. One of them arrived a bit flustered saying he'd taken a wrong turn. We set him off soon afterwards then another rider said they'd seen him riding back up the slip road from the M40!
Other notable thing was that while virtually everyone waited until the TK said go, two guys wanted to set off a couple of seconds early so instead of pushing them off I had to hold them back. First time I'd pushed off in an open so no idea if that is normal.

no idea if that is normal
It's normal for some people to be a bit too keen to get going.

didn't realise that was you/a lfggser!
I was number 30, unfortunately I didn't make it all the way around, but blame wedding/no breakfast/puncture on way to start line for that, at least I made the start line!

Good to meet you retrospectively! Sorry you didn't make it round, but getting married on the way to the start line seems like a reasonable excuse! ;)
It was cold when you started but it warmed up later and seemed like a reasonable day. But I had to shoot off so haven't seen the final times yet. -

Thinking of stocking up on latex inner tubes? I'm gonna get some Vredestein ones cheap if anyone wants to share postage.

OK, OK, it's very small.

he had a casquette on at a jaunty angle, which completely disguised him.

Good luck @cjr and @onyerbike at the LVCC 30 tomorrow.
My season was bookended by TTs I drove you to respectively.
I was supposed to be riding in the Oxonian CC 25 tomorrow (saw @ewanmac on the start list) but I had to DNS.
Playing football on a Saturday is terrible preparation for TTs, and last Sunday was horrible. I genuinely thought I was going to pass out a couple of times during the last 10km and had to sit up in the end just to finish.
I didn't really know I was going to do a full season when I started, so I didn't really make plans or targets, but I'm really happy with what I achieved.
Next year I'd like to improve my PBs for 10 and 25, go under 2 hours for a 50, and give a 100 a go.

My season was bookended
If we're doing bookends, mine started and finished with 84rpm averages, the first on 81" and the last on 94"
-
• #16623
Different distances, or did you just get faster?
-
• #16624
Different distances
Both 10s. To some extent I got faster, but the bike and the course helped, H10/2 on the Hirame first, H10/17 on the T3 last.

last TT of the year for me this weekend with the rearranged UTAG 10 on the P881r, weather forecast currently showing rain, which will inevitably mean that the race will be cancelled, haven't had a decent TT since the national 25, between weather and life getting in the way its been a bit disappointing really.
Because they came loose.
(Joke, I've no idea if they were too tight or too loose).
