  • Stayer Cycles is going to SSCXWC in Verona in December and SSCXEC in Koksijde March next year. In order to promote their (Sam's) frame building and cyclocross wheel building (Judith) they are building a bunch of SSCX bikes. One of them will be mine.

I am building it myself with Sam's help and advice and using his equipment which includes gasfluxer and an Anvil jig. This get's me soooo excited!

Frame will be made of: Columbus Spirit down tube, Max top tube, Zona seat tube and chain stays and T45 wishbone stay which I have been bending for Sam for a while, but this is my first time using them myself.

More interesting is that we are using Bear Frame Supplies new SS dropout prototype. It is quite exciting to be the first people to build with this. It looks great imo.

Build will include tapered Enve forks, Chris King headset and Hope hubs on deep section rims for extra steeeeez.

  • This sounds amazing. Look forward to following this - you'd better crack on though, as you've got 4 weeks to go before the Worlds.

  • Yeah I know. We have given ourselves Wednesday as deadline in order to make paint on time :-)

  • It is always hard to get the colours right in visualisation. But the idea for my frame is a very dark blue to very dark purple fade...

  • Guess which one is mine

  • This is going to be great.

Judith built me a pair of wheels for my road bike. I've not seen one of Sam's frame's yet... the @Hulsroy builds and frames I've seen on here are inspiring.

  • Thanks mate. Means a lot.
Sam is a great guy and he is very thorough with his frames, but he is also very pragmatic which I really like. He is more into Hunter and Rock Lobster than into NAHBS.

  • this looks shite.

totally not interested in seeing more. at all. whatsoever.

Off to re-read the last 76 pages of DBAD again instead. Look to the past, not the future, that's my motto. Inspiring!? Inspires me to puke!!! (with horrific amounts of jealousy tbh)

  • This is DBAD 2.0 tho. I had the brakes before everything else!

  • Where did you track down the NOS enve fork?

  • nice, keep us posted!

  • This is going to be great!

    Why not discs?

  • Because DBAD!

  • Sam had two. One for me and one for him

  • Wish I hadn’t sold mine.

  • They are heavy and overpriced to be honest.

  • They weren’t cheap, that’s for sure, but nor are the alternatives available now!

  • You'll never make it to 76 pages if you keep this up

  • Colour considerations can easily take up a dozen pages.

  • Bottle cages can account for a few .
