  • Full up: to mean - no more spaces?

  • Ah so that maybe comes off and can be used on the other end too? So I just need 2 noodles and I can make 1 work

  • Unfortunately, yes. If you click on the 'About' tab it shows you the races, and you can click the enter button, but for the main Seniors race, the button says 'Fully booked' and you can't click on it.

  • Yeah, that's the idea. I've done it before using the f/f bit of a noodle to join two lengths of regular brake outer.

  • Excellent, you da man

  • (Or woman)

  • Bought a frameset with a Shimano external BB in it which I thought I had the right tools to remove. Turns out stupid Shimano decided to make their cups smaller than they used to be and I need an adapter like so

My question is, does anyone in central have one of these I can borrow? Or where can I get one? I need it tomorrow or friday.

  • I can bring one in

  • Maltby & Druid street market
    White Cube
    Borough Market
    Southbank isn't far
Barbican has the Basquiat exhibition on the other side of the river
The Kabakov exhibition opened recently at the Tate

I'm not great with that part of London but there's plenty on here that live down that way

  • Record shops - Rat Records in camberwell, or go smaller/scruffier in Rye Lane with Yam, Rye Wax, and... another one. Nearby. There's also the second hand shop at the front of DIY Space for London, it's not really a destination but you can hang out with some super earnest youth and they do some fun events. Old Kent Rd area towards South Bermondsey.

  • Brixton Village is fun to poke around
    Soho for the thrills
That old prostitute graveyard near Waterloo (or London Bridge?)

  • I'm definitely not from there so this is probably no longer a hip place, but I stumbled upon Ceviche on Old St in August and really enjoyed the experience; excellent food and drink were delivered with style and a convincing friendliness.

  • I had success just asking for them in a bike shop. They come with new Ultegra BBs so mechanics either chuck them or stick them in a drawer. The Evans near Kings Cross gave me three and didn't want anything for them. @Dammit bought a metal one from somewhere but over torquing caveats apply if you go that route.

  • That's the 2015 event, I think. Find the new listing and things should be easier.

  • Well spotted. I thought it was odd that an event was sold out nearly two months in advance.

  • delivered with style.

    Wut?

  • I think it is sold out
    See here
Super annoying because I'd promised myself I'd get my shit together this year and actually enter

  • Will a 202 cm hight x 28 cm depth flatpack bookcase once assembled (as per instructions ) fit into a ceiling height of 204 cm ?

    I haven't got it yet.

  • Will a 202 cm hight x 28 cm depth flatpack bookcase once assembled (as per instructions ) fit into a ceiling height of 204 cm ?

It'll be really bloody tight to make it stand up.

    sqrt( (202^2) + (28^2) ) = 203.93cm (2dp)

So less than 1mm clearance on the diagonal when you try and stand it up.

If you're assembling it on carpet you may have a bit more give, otherwise you may need to assemble it in position rather than doing it on the floor and then pulling it up into its final position.

  • Over torquing? That's just an adaptor you fit into a great big metal BB spanner. You might be thinking of the low-torque gadget you tighten the cranks on with?

  • From OED.

mass noun Fashionable elegance and sophistication. ‘the world-famous hotel attracts guests because of its style and taste’ More example
sentences ‘This kind of fridge has become a symbol of taste, elegance,
style and wealth.’ ‘Consumption is more than just French style and
taste, it represents the positioning of the self in a larger world.’
‘But when a temple of style and urban sophistication founders on
ambience, food and service, it doesn't leave much to cling to.’
‘Today, his star is fading and so is the idea that he is an icon of
style and musical sophistication.’ ‘But records do not reveal the
elegance and style with which most of his runs were made.’ ‘His sense
of style ranged from the elegant to the outrageous.’ ‘I'd like to say
that I did it with style and elegance but I suspect that would be a
lie.’ ‘Waterford Crystal, the epitome of style and elegance, is the
world's most successful luxury crystal brand.’ ‘You could have your
visitors gasping in admiration at your elegance and style with this
prize.’ ‘The name Odeon, on the other hand, retains an air of
tradition, elegance and style.’ ‘Is he dripping with charm, style and
panache as well?’ ‘In recent years her style has become more
sophisticated, elegant and streamlined.’ ‘If it is style, elegance and
grandeur you are after then this five-bed detached property may be the
home for you.’ ‘The two of them have very similar tastes and sense of
style so coming together was obvious.’ ‘Despite our growing celebrity
status we had no sophistication or sense of style.’ ‘Visiting the
house, you can relive the previous tenants' elegant style of life.’ ‘I
never imagined that Sichuan dishes could be made in such an elegant
and exquisite style.’ ‘On the outback road from Sydney to Melbourne,
Tony Perrottet finds sophistication and style in the wild.’ ‘As local
real estate prices have soared, so has the region's reputation for
    style and taste.’

  • How flat is your ceiling? I did the same with an Ikea wardrobe and had a few mm spare. Then when the door opened it caught on the ceiling a foot from the wall where the height was slightly uneven. Ended up shaving a bit off the corner of the door to let it open.
But yeah, it'll work, you might just need to build in place.

  • It being plastic means it will deform and slip off before you can apply any massively damaging torque, even if it is in a metal BB spanner (try taking off a particularly seize BB with one of those plastic adaptors). Not that it will allow to set a specific torque. Same as when the preload crank cap tool is made of plastic too.

  • Thanks - I've just cut a length of wood to 202cm which obviously hasn't the depth as the bookcase to test the diagonal but I've discovered that where the thing will go there is actually 4cm space to the ceiling. I don't understand your calculation enough to apply it to what is now a ceiling height of 206cm but I guess it makes it slightly easier.
