Pelago is good, pizza rack also good. I prefer pelago for general use, pizza rack feels more rigid if shredding the gnar.

Perfectly adequate!

Took the cyfac out for a little test ride with the mavic parts. The wheels are incredibly smooth and the fit is surprisingly comfortable with the short reach and deep drop.

Bike looks amazing, love those hubs. When I had some before I had to re-tap them though as I couldn't get stainless bolts in them, it was too tight. If you look on eBay you can find silver threaded bolt caps. I got some when I had those cranks. More streamlined imo

Cheers! Good call on the dust-caps, they definitely make for a cleaner look. The cranks which are currently on there will be replaced with a pair in mint condition, unfortunately they didn't come with the original dust caps so I'll get a pair of those ebay ones. Stainless bolts might be worth considering but the bike is a fair weather ride so I doubt it'll get wet or rusty.

I need a bit of shifter compatibility help. Vitus 979 frame with 90s Shimano 6-7 speed SIS shifters. The frame bosses are different to what I've had before. The chrome spacers that go between the frame boss and the shifter (which do the indexing) usually butt up against the downtube because they are curved on the back. Here it seems they aren't compatible and I need a flat one. Can I just buy these off the shelf and it'll work or do I need to get a whole new shifter set?

Pics might help explain but aren't in the correct order.

Thanks! I can see why a landrover enthusiast would like the colour ;) Initially I didn't like it but I'm starting to appreciate the understated look. Nevertheless, I'm still planning to get it re-painted with fluro fades and decals next year.

I have a set of 105 8spd levers that have had those bits filed down flat - I presume for this reason. They fit on an alu cannondale frame I was going to build up that had a similar arrangement to your frame.

I had thought about it, but some of the old Uniglide SIS parts can be notoriously hard to find. Will break out the files, but only if it's last resort!

I wonder if those particular parts are shared with any other group - you might be able to find something more common and wreck them instead :-)

I just had a quick look on eBay just in case but I couldn't see any shifter sets without the curved covers. The reviews for that part on SJS Cycles are mainly from Vitus 979 owners and a Cannondale owner, so it must be specific to those alloy frames!

Not strictly a 'project', but cleaned, polished, lubricated and fettled the Hetchins at the weekend, ready to put it away for the winter:

Slow burner project got some love. This frame is like a teenager struggling to decide what it wants to be when it grows up. Started of as a road bike, got the dropouts changed to track ends, respaced to 120mm and all the braze ons taken off. I got it cheap off here a while back like that. Since then the headtube got changed to 1 1/8 with the help of @bankiren, respaced again and a gear hanger got welded on yesterday. Next up is a disc tab in the rear and crimping the chainstays a bit. It fits 38's but why not go even bigger? Plan is to run it 1x9 and eventually rattle can it.
