After some riding today I've quickly realised that eyyy, this thing is far from comfy. I'd need a size smaller frame, with like 4-5 cm shorter top tube for this cockpit setup to work.
Now the plan is acquiring a different stem and handlebar. I've already ordered a pair of NOS Dia Compe Power Control 3 brake levers for dirt cheap. A friend of mine has a load of retro MTB stems so I'm pretty sure that's settled. Handlebar-wise I'll just browse my LBS for some risers.
This thing is money not too well spent so far haha.

spin the stem 180 degrees, easy

I think my build is going to be exactly the same :/ I will persist but I reckon I'll need to find a replacement/smaller MTB.

Child's play. A mallet is all you need ;)

Minor changes here and there.
- new BB, so the crankset is no longer rubbing the chainstays
- new brake cable hanger, so I hopefully won't lose my teeth prematurely
- removed some links from the chain (and of course my chain tool died so I had to buy a new one)
Handles like absolute batshit, looks preposterous, and I love it. Hell I won't go with risers, it stays like that.
Getting a new RD for chain tensioning soon, and I'll need to respace the cog on the rear wheel, as this chainline is kinda lethal.
Oh and I need to get a shorter stem.

36T front, 14T back, Deore LX RD-M563 for chain tensioning. Black inline seatpost ordered. Stem search continues.
Chain skips when pedalling hard, rear cog is probably worn as hell and I didn't notice it - or my chain might be slack? So it's still far from being properly usable but getting there soon...

Your chain looks rather slack, but still, massive slipping shouldn't happen. How's the chainline?
-
• #67
Chainline is perfect, so that shouldn't be the issue. I guess the rear cog is just worn, I'll replace it and we'll see.

Turns out cog was fine, but the front chainring was worn a bit. I've got another one that works like a charm, no slips whatsoever.

New seatpost soon and I'll probably swap the saddle as well. And I'm getting another stem asap.

This turned out good!
Want to buy a once fitted, never ridden Limp Dick stem?

Tell more...

With the inline post it will be more fun once I reach the bars properly, haha!
@Batt Cheers and thanks for the offer mate, but the stem itself would worth more than the whole bike :) someday I'll might pm about it, but not very soon I think...

this turned out great! hope it's as much fun as it looks like :)

Thanks! I'd say it's batshit crazy. Handles very twitchy but it's fun and different.
Clamp size? Hmm!
