Think the major problem is that people run most saddles too "flat" and are more inclined to run SMP saddles at the "correct" angle because they're such a nerd saddle and look so weird they accept the position is supposed to be like that.
Talked to a guy at Fizik once who said their saddles are meant to be run flat. And when he said flat he meant with the RAILS parallel to the floor. Depending on the model of fizik that's upto -8 degrees
