It makes sense on a heavy bike that you wanna keep up right. I actually bought a new one but it seamed kinda flimsy so I opted for an old school one that I found second hand. Next level sturdiness stuff.

I need one for my dad Straggler! My daughter isn’t exactly getting easier to load and unload...

Mine is a bit of a hack to get it on my Cross Check. It's an Ursus Jumbo but because there is no mounting point on the bike, and the Jumbo does not come with a top plate, I'm using the top plate from a Pletscher kickstand. It fits in the gap between the bottom bracket, chainstays and mudguard mount. I've not needed it for dad duties for a year and a half. The bike has gears and a porteur rack for commuting but the kick stand stays because it keeps the bike still when attaching the rack bag.

SRAM Force 22, or Shimano 105 11s on a CAAD8 for winter?
SRAM weighs about 300g less (not that it matters) but costs £70 more (£180 vs £110).
I’m a Campagnolo user so have no preference really.
Or I just put my 10s Veloce on there and ignore the awful silver components on black frame thing.

Will work well with mudguards.

if you are buying new, not a massive diff ££ .. I like peace of mind.

Main sticking point is brake / mudguard / tyre clearance. I’m pretty sure the 105 brakes are ok, not sure on the Force though. Anyone run them with PDW ‘guards?

I have never had issues, but not used those fenders specifically.
Can lend you a caliper for testing purposes. -

I might just have your Force in the end. Gonna fiddle with a SRAM bike tomorrow hopefully. Calipers to test would be brilliant though.

Tried my bro’s 105 round the block. Don’t like flappy brake levers.
-
• #116973
Yeah I found it pretty grim too. Although it is occasionally handy to be able to shift and brake at the same time
-
• #116974
Until Shimano looks nicer, campag get rid of silly thumb levers, sram is the only choice for me

Euro brake set-up FTW. Left hand brakes (front) as right have shifts down.
Yes I have one. Has been solid so far, no issues.
