There are a lot of new 27.2 posts in the works, which should help.

I was thinking SRAM Doubletap would work - you drop the post on the first click (outer ring) then shift it back through to the the start (lower ring).
There are 27.2mm posts about... cable routing would be difficult though, I agree.
Not going to do it (I'd want a dropper for my MTB before I start messing around with one for road), just curious

The ones I've used you just pull the cable, move post, release cable. No clicking needed, in fact it would get in the way but they seem to need less than a click.

Doubletap might get in the way actually.

Get a couple old, cheapish cassettes. The spacers in there are plastic sometimes, so you could sand them down if you need to get that last .2mm right.

Winter bike cranks:
BSA / weather proof BB standard that fits into BSA threads
Black
Ideally 130bcd
Low Q-factor
Cheapmaybe...Shimano dura-ace 7402 with a 103mm BB are 130mm q-factor. sometimes found on ebay

my problem has been trying to find dropper seatposts with set back saddle clamp

But if you're repurposing a front shifter it's going to click anyway isn't it? Unless you remove the ratchety bit.

Question from a friend,
"I’m trying to find out if I can run an 11 speed cassette on a 10 speed wheel. I can’t find a definitive answer online. I’m not sure if it’s a case of swapping the freehub for and 11 speed to get the extra width in or whether I will need a new wheel. I’ve seen articles where people have machined the back of the cassette to fit on a 10 speed freehub, seems excessive!"

The amount pulled was under a full click on my post, I'm guessing most don't need much.
-
• #86887
But yeah, messing with the ratchet would be what I'd do if it did click.
-
• #86888
Not a road one, unless you can swap out the freehub, or you can machine the cassette a bit.
-
• #86889
I believe the shimano CS-HG800-11 cassette is 11 speed for 10 speed hubs
Otherwise you'd need to machine either the freehub or the cassette as Snottyotter says.
-
• #86890
unless they happen to be mavic 10 speed wheels, in which case just remove the spacer that's already on there
-
• #86891
As he said in the question. That HG800-11 is 11-34 anyway, so basically MTB.
-
• #86892
Basically but not really. Its listed in the road section of Shimano's tech docs

Will putting an 11sp freehub on a wheel that came with a 10sp one cause any spacing issues?
-
• #86894
Whats the wheel? Is there a compatible 11 speed freehub swap?
-
• #86895
I've asked
-
• #86896
What wheel/hub is it?
Oops forgot to update page, that's not just me being impatient...

I think you can with Campagnolo.
-
• #86900
With Campagnolo you can put an 11 speed cassette on any freehub from 8 speed up.
in a few years time i may be asking @coldharbour to modify my isen - replace seat tube to do this
i am expecting to be told to fuck off
