  • Thats an interesting chain ring, looks handy.

  • Very hard to shift, can't be done carelessly (even with only a 16t difference).

  • Couple of tweaks to the road bike.

New ceramic BB, Tacx Tao bottle cage and new stem.

  • I'm still here ;)

I won't prattle on about it here but I'd quickly like to say thank you everyone for their support, it means a great deal to me, you are all really rather kind hearted.

If you want to know more please read this and feel free to comment in the relevant thread.

    Now, more bikes please.

Ti rec seatpost and ITM the stem magnesium...
Looking for TI or TI like bottle cages

  • Cross posting from AQA:

    Winter bike cranks:

    • BSA / weather proof BB standard that fits into BSA threads
    • Black
    • Ideally 130bcd
    • Low Q-factor
    • Cheap
    • Supplied by one of you reprobates
  • Sram rival. Done.
Gxp isn’t as shit as everyone says before you give that as a reason not to. I’ve used two gxps on two bikes for 4 years now without need for a new bb. All weather, all year.

  • Yep, was looking at them. Is the 150mm q-factor I’ve read about true?

  • Can't answer that one I'm afraid

  • For the triple version, yes. Double is 147, higher than average though.

  • For the triple version, yes.

SRAM triple? Or am I misunderstanding you?

  • Apparently so. Vaporware?

  • Interesting. I have never seen a Rival triple configuration before. But this is possible? How would shifting work? SRAM don't make any triple brifters, do they? Shimano brifters and derailleurs?

  • This? But yeah, dunno about shifting...

  • Can’t find any other mention of it on Sram’s site and no pictures of one online

  • I have never seen a Rival triple configuration before. But this is possible?

Although the Rival one exists in theory, it is unlikely to be seen in the wild for the reasons you suggest. OEMs looking for something cheaper than, for example, 5703 would select the Truvativ branded version.

Not surprising since they think triples are dead:

    SRAM

    Is the triple chainset dead?
    Dead & buried.

  • This?

Not that, it's the solid crank version, the table you posted is for the hollow OCT cranks.

  • And SRAM is also not a big fan of the front derailleur (for MTB at least) as everyone knows:

  • I do like Sram's attitude. A bit less prim and proper than campag and shimano, ultimately cooler.

    On cross chaining

At SRAM we love big-big. Amongst mechanics on the NORBA and Mountain Bike World Cup circuit (many years ago!), we called big-big the 'pro gear’
So we would encourage your readers to ride big-big if they like...
SRAM 2x11 drivetrains, specifically the Yaw front derailleurs, are designed to accommodate this.

  • Put it some work on my shit bike and turned it into a not so shit bike. Well everything is relative, right? And everybody needs a shit bike. Dad mobile mode is officially on. Threw on some WI cranks from my parts box, changed inner cables, cassette to 10 speed put on a Zee derailleur and shifter. The basket is muj bueno and even has a d-lock holder. Got a mad bargain Salsa stem too and off went the bullmoose bars and on came some wide risers. Also fabricated some attachments for the lights on the fender and mid fork mount. Tyres changed to some 42mm Schwalbe Marathon Dureme's which easily fit under the fenders. I think it'll even fit 50's in there, we'll see the next time. I'm getting my flouro Magura HS33's Raceline Evo's serviced and those will go on soon and possible fold the fucking frame in half. Some Spokey dokeys are definitely on the list of things to come as they'll obviously enhance the shit bikes performance and make up for the fact that it weighs a fucking ton.
I got this frame for free and treat it like shit. I lock it up anywhere and that's what I love about it but it also has a lot of nice features like fitting big ass tyres, many mounts and internal wiring, which I might as well use at some point.

  • Oh wait! I forgot the most important thing. I put on a double kick stand. Ha!

  • that double kick stand is a great idea! I've been thinking about mounting one on my tourer for some time now.

  • Just bought one of these aggressor stems for a new build. Anyone heard of/seen before?
