To add to the views on Radials...
I'm a bit disappointed with mine (plastic clip on variety). They look great and length is pretty good by clip on standards but they're been a right pain to fit. First off, I had to file out the front brake mount, as it was riding low, so that it wouldn't clear 22mm tyres (not exactly wide...). It's still a super tight fit.
Secondly the rear brake mount doesn't seem to fit the guard- I had to bend the legs out to avoid piercing the tyre, although now it provides minimal security to hold the thing in place... As above, the clearance is so tight you couldn't bend the legs under. Finally one of the plastic mounts won't grip the stay (seems loose). Hopefully pressure keeps it in place, will glue it at some point.
Such a shame, as they look amazing. Hopefully they don't rub on the road and so they can avoid a trip to the spares bin.
Higher hopes for the alu mount ones, but that would mean acquiring a bike with eyelets or braving p-clips...

Now with Longboards.
Waiting on Berthouds, so these may be placeholders, they may stay, or I might use the Berthoud stays with the Longboards (though that is usually a weight-saving option, and for this bike, well...).

The chain defintely need to be 1 link shorter.

Shimano docs indicate I need to add one, the pulleys are supposed to hang in a vertical line. I just ran out; one KMC X8 plus about 8 or 9 links I had spare.

Ideally you would want something around the 65/70mm-width mark. Berthoud stops at 60mm. Honjo H-95 are 62mm but flat so will work with your tyre. H-80 are the the same width but round.

Just stumbled on the Pletscher option for all the fatties out there, looks like they go up to 80mm.

Nice work, I've done the exact same thing but for the stay catcher I used a loose piece from a crud road racer set. Works great.
Are they removable zip ties?

• #3162
Removable how? With a pair of pliers obvs but otherwise they'll stay on until spring ;)

You can get them with thumb tabs so you can open them without tools. If you cant remove it, what you going to do if you get a flat?

Brute force, I guess. Raceblades seem quite flimsy, but I'm sure I'll learn the hard way that they're not...

Like these you mean?
I had no idea they existed, thanks! Will order some and replace. No point in making puncture fixing worse than necessary.

There are also these,

Yeah something like that, although I've never seen that particular design before. Link?

Message above was supposed to be aimed at @russmeyer The ones MCamb posted is what I;ve used. At smaller sizes though the removal tab can be a bit flimsy though.

Here's some cheap guards that I've just bought to potentially replace the Radials I bought a month or two ago.

Thought I'd give people a heads up as they look fairly decent and they're only twelve quid delivered.
Other colours/widths are available.

These look decent. I've never bought/owned mudguards before - how do you work out if they'll fit? I'm looking for some to fit to my Boardman Road Comp

So recently there was a rattling noise coming from my rear mudguards and I thought it might have been a lose bolt somewhere that hasn’t been secured, how wrong was I?

Plastic or metal? That's quite a clean break.

Radial clip ons have almost no clearance when paired with 25s on my Charge Plug. The front one seems alright, but I can't adjust the rear one properly enough to stop the plastic things attaching the guard to the metal bits touching the tyre. Anyone got any tips?

New bike I’m afraid. It’s the only way.

Goddamn it.
I have a Trek 920 (which is supposed to take 29" wheels) with 650b wheels and 60mm Scwalbe g ones - how do I go about finding and applying the correct sized mudguards?
