  • I do, very strangely, so much so it annoys me, really like the Aeronova for some reason...

They’re reach and drop baffles me though and the alloy ones’ entry holes look awkwardly tight...

  • They’re reach and drop baffles me

    Late 30s

  • the reach and drop measurements for the aeronova are bullshit. the aeronova has exactly the same proportions as the ergonova. I have both and have compared them side by side.

however rather than measure centre to centre for some reason 3t chose to measure these from the back edge of the bar to the front edge.

i think it was on the mantel website where they had measured the reach and drop themselves and the figures were identical to the old ergnovas. as i use ergonovas on 3 bikes the aeronovas then made sense (even though ugleee)

  • Ah nice, I didn't know those had internal routing. Not a huge fan of the the superzero branding along the top but also £200 cheaper 😬

I can't believe the pro vibe alloy just has a crappy hole by the bar end plug, and a fake cable to run to match on the other side.

  • THIS! I also ordered a pair of those Vibe ones and honestly felt like penning a very strong worded mail to PRO telling them to sort their shit out - I did it to sigma instead telling them to stop misrepresenting that these are internally routable and Di2 compatible - they’ve since changed the wording on their listing as apparently they’ve had most of them returned for this reason (I think it was sigma - might have been somewhere similar, maybe Tweeks)

The SUPERZERO ALL OF THE DECALS AND BRANDING logos come off very nicely with a bit of acetone a la below to give a beautifully dark plain black bar:

  • Before anyone starts, the Felt is merely acting as a placeholder 😒

  • It was the use of a Zipp aero skewer on a Novatec/KinlinXR22T wheel which caught my eye.

  • Dunno what yor on aboot mert - there Zipp them.....

  • Nice, that's exactly what I'm after - cheers! Fingers crossed they'll fit some hydro hoses in there too.

I was starting to consider taking some fizik bars and a drill and rolling the dice...

  • Nobody likes faceplanting their stem...

  • Money on a new set of front teeth or some pro vibe carbon bars

  • Carbon bars with holes in them....

The Pro Vibe will likely cost you £250+ dentist bill!

  • I've seen more alu bars fail due to excess clamp force or scoring where bar tape has been cut than carbon bars.

  • Might well be because 99% of people ride alu bars

  • Inknowwww I knowwwwwwws, I’m just wildly speculating - although as professed previously I’ve had a number of carbon bars fail at the clamp well below recommended torque with a manufacturer matching stem.

  • #lawofaverages

Should see the mcfk Seatpost I’ve just got - it’s wafer thin, weighs less than feathers and the very thought of riding it is frankly terrifying.

    #prayformyanus

  • Seatposts I'd be much less worried about than bars. I'm sure tester can explain in proper physics speak but something to do with the way it clamps and the way load is put on it

  • @Dick have installed a couple of those mcfk seatposts. The bolts that clamp the rails need checked periodically as they can come loose. Put a little locktite on them.

  • Where's cheap for an SM-BCR2 charger for the cylindrical batteries?

  • I find zeee germanz the cheapest for Di2 bits; Bike24, Bike-discount.de etc, that or eBay

  • Has anyone successfully got Shimano ST-R785 to work with a XT/XTR rear derailluer? Foolishly meddling with the thought of going Di2 for my next build. If so, what parts (other than the shifters and the rear mech) do I need to make it all come together? Presently, I know nothing about Di2.

  • R785 + XT(R) rear derailleur is a sure thing! Just don't expect a front road derailleur to work with it.

You will need wires, a battery and a junction box with a charging port. Everything you need know is in here: e-tubeproject.shimano.com/pdf/en/HM-CC.3.3.0-00-EN.pdf

Here is a similar build: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=143555

  • yes, me and now @Dick
