Allows hydraulic fluid to pass from a hose to a bolt hole which is at right angles to the hose axis, and allows the hose axis to be aligned in any direction on the plane orthogonal to the bolt axis.
So gives more options on where the hose and caliper can be placed? Makes sense. I’m guessing that road bikes don’t need quite so much flexibility given that the frames tend to be the standard double triangle rather than the weird and wonderful shapes of MTBs?
