Anything else to look at before I pull the trigger on Hope 20Five Pro 4 ?
Looking for a good solid all rounder.
-
• #8003
Why pro 4 rather than rs 4?
-
• #8005
Superstar? Will be cheaper and essentially same.
-
• #8006
Not a fan of superstar wheels, like the rest of their stuff. Have a friend with their wheels and not great. Getting the Hopes at shop price also so a good deal.
-
• #8007
Then just go with Hope :) No other alternatives if you are not paying full price for Hope.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a wide, fixed rear wheel for cheap? Lots of spokes, and a touring rim ideally, something that can be spaced out to 130mm.

Or is this something better suited to a fresh build? mavic a119, okay spokes and novatech + spacers?
-

I don't think there's nothing like that OTP, only skinny rims. Get some kinlin laced to novatec/on-one/system ex hub. Have a look at 29er rims if you don't plan to have a rear brake, lots to choose, many holes and wide.

I would vote fresh build - had a similar quandary a few years ago and had a set built.
Token hubs, A119s for a fixed porteur.

Anyone ever descended mountains on ENVE SES clinchers ?
-
• #8013
Had a friend do Tour of Wessex last year on his and on day 3 down a reasonably long descent they delaminated on the brake track and also popped the tyre.

Carbon rims are only useful on disc brake bikes or TT bikes. Why people ride spendy rims like that on scrappy British lanes is the same reason people drive around in Range Rovers on 24" chrome rims. Both dumb.

To impress the other mums outside school?
-
• #8016
I thought it was to make up for a lack of "dope beats" and "sick rhymes" aka small penis. Guess it depends on which particular Rangey Rovery twat demographic you're sampling.

Need to choose between WI T11 or DT 240s for a set of carbon clincher wheels - will do a bit of racing but plenty of other road riding too, main wheelset I guess. There's barely anything in it weight-wise, so leaning towards T11 for durability.

Are the Hunt Areo Wide value for money?
-
• #8019
I think the consensus was Hunt wheels aren’t too bad value but if you wanted you could build almost the same wheels for a bit less. They use Kinlin rims apparently
-
• #8020
Kinlin + Novatec/Bitex would be marginally cheaper
-
• #8022
Molegrips, in theory they should pull off by hand - in theory

Neighbour with a bench mounted vice?

• #8024
shhhhhhh

Sorry, I'll get you in trouble again
Yep, the shitter looking one is the english one, naturally.
Good luck with it. They're cracking looking wheels, would be a shame not to use them. I'm excited to get on mine.
That said, let me know if you just decide to get rid haha ;)
