All seem uniformly mucky. Am assuming I'd see one or two cleaner than the others. No coolant residue around the head...

You should just buy another car. There's a nice red 850r over on car and classic. Owner is a bit of knob but he's obsessed with maintenance. Would be a good buy. He might be negotiable as I hear he has a Porsche affliction to fund.
