I think the best bet would be to follow the route taken by Porsche, this is the RSR intake:
The carbon tube that is lying in the foreground would normally be where the mesh-tube is to be seen linking the two halves.
I'd run that a version of that tube to the standard filter-housing - via the standard MAF housing:
