I'd thoroughly recommend a chromebook. I've had nothing but a good experience from mine.

^ Seconded. Mrs c00ps has both a Chromebook and a Lenovo Yoga. Both good (from the point of view of an occasional user of each). But the Chromebook seems a better bang for the buck.
(I have Lenovo Thinkpad as a work machine and it's pretty robust and will do more than I need)

I need a new laptop/pad.
I want something 13" at biggest. I'd like a touch screen that I can use to annotate PDFs and write on. It would be good to edit word documents.
I don't need to it be super advanced as I've a MacBook Pro, but that's too heavy to lug to university.
I'd love to ditch pen and paper and take electronic notes. Is there a device that can actually do this properly?
Is an iPad the best choice, or is there a windows machine that's cool?
