The SKS Raceblade sets say they only cover up to 25c. Is this nonsense or should I buy the extra wide ones.

I assume you mean Raceblade Longs (the regular ones are useless)? I run 25c on mine and I get some rub in the front when out of the saddle. I wouldn't recommend anything bigger, it might fit on the stand, but won't work well IRL.
