  • Where in my comment did I say anything about not dealing with it? Or justifying the staff's attitude towards him?

My point was going into a retailer ten minutes before closing and expecting results doesn't really get you far, which for me is reinforced by him wanting to complain to Evans HQ.

@farewell Nukeproofs are renowned for doing that. Myabe riding SS/Fixed does have an effect on them or or maybe not.
What I do know is even riding them normally, I've seen enough do that so far. Depending on how old they are, they're a warranty issue for sure and they should have booked them in to at least get some information.

That's bullshit. If you don't want to help someone past a certain time, close at that time. What's the point of being open for those last 10 minutes then? Plenty of retailers have stayed open late to help me out, I've been in a shop 45 mins after closing time before where the rest of the staff are closing up and one staff member has helped me out.

Imagine if all supermarkets kicked you out at closing time? Oh you've got a full trolley? Well we're closed now so fuck off.

  • Because they're just staff and don't exactly dictate when things close? Because they get replaced every six month by another individual who couldn't give a flying fuck about whether your item is broken or not as thy're barely there to remember the name of the next member of staff? Because staying after the doors are shut unpaid is shit and doing it a multitude of times a week sucks?

If that particular individual has stayed an extra 45 minutes was genuinely keen to help you, it's because they gave a shit and they deserve Kudos, because your case isn't a statistical standard.

I'm not disparaging the face that whomever helped him has a shitty attitude to work. I'm saying I can see the reason why that's all. Just being realistic, or maybe I'm just too headstrong in regards to this subject.

  • When I had a retail job for a while, we'd be half pulling down the shutters about 10 mins prior to the end, so that the people milling about could decide and pay, but no other customer could walk in. If someone ducked under the shutter, they'd normally face the inquisition and be sent out again.

That's what the bosses told us to do, so that's what we did. Almost every other store in Bluewater did the same.
