  • Some times whilst out riding my chain slips off the bottom jockey wheel like this.
A couple of shifts up to a larger sprocket pops it back on but it's anoying.
Any idea how to sort it out? Campag 10 speed Veloce derailleur.
(drive train is usually cleaner that the photo so not the problem)

  • You've tightened it up in the right order, yes? Loosen the horizontal members, rotate the hoop so the horizontals are, well, horizontal and then tighten up the hoop. Then tighten the mid mounts, then make sure the pivots are nipped up.

  • Is it the photo or the cage that isn't straight?

  • I like Giro shoes but compared with the equivalent Sidi they are about 20% as durable. They eat themselves. Real shame.

  • Can you explain how and why?

  • What is the difference between front and rear rim brake calipers? Is it just that the bolt is longer at the front to go through the fork - if so, presume a rear can be used at the front if the nut is long enough to engage the threads?

For the majority of calipers out there, yes, and so a very long nut would do the job. One thing to account for is the orientation of the brake pad holders. they'll be the wrong way around :)

  • So much sidewall support than you can just lean and lean and lean into corners and tyres feel solid.

  • perhaps not... I'll give this a go.

  • a very long nut would do the job

As long as it doesn't bottom out in the 8mm bore, which it will in some forks, i.e. the centre bolt of a rear caliper will not go far enough through the 6mm bored section to provide proper thread engagement. Steel forks and hybrids with cabon blades bonded to metal crowns are generally OK, full carbon ones not so much.

  • Wonky photo. The derailleur looks straight.

  • 10€ in an usato...

    But the shop.....any ideas?

  • Closed in 2012 according to some sources. Online reviews from 20111 are not glowing.....

  • Ah yep see that now. The design appears to be Goines. Prices for genuine prints fluctuates wildly. Would be tempted if not for corner damage, and transportation issues.

  • I’ve just bought a pair of Privateers, and I’d say they were comparable with standard fit Sidi shoes.

Thanks @andyp, it's the Privateers I'm looking at too. Sidi have always fitted me okay, though a bit narrow in the toe box. Might give them a go.

  • Those schemes where former petty criminals are moved to a new area of the country and try to make a go of selling cloths etc to suspicious householders.
    They are genuine? Worthwhile? Beneficial?

  • Give it a go, you won't know until you try: I believe in you!

  • Haha, thanks! I'm much more the suspicious householder though. Who buys cloths off a man at the door past 8pm?

  • :)

I know what you mean though: the cynic in me thinks it's an ideal excuse to scope the neighbourhood...

  • 110k people stranded abroad by Monarch. Taking into account other airlines there must be 500k people out of the country at any one time?

  • Taking into account other airlines there must be 500k people out of the country at any one time?

More than that, Monarch is not a big airline. Easyjet has about 7 times as many seats on fleet, for example.

  • I always assume those schemes are a bit like when someone knocks on your door, says they live three houses away, and have locked themselves out without wallet and need a fiver... except you get a J cloth.

  • No, because about half of those 110k are stranded abroad in the UK, I presume. Or maybe not...

  • bout half of those 110k are stranded abroad in the UK

I think the 110k refers to UK residents stuck outside the UK.

  • Any idea how to smuggle some cash into the beautiful country of Iran? I'm an idiot and walked into the place without doing my research. I've already contacted the Dutch embassy they might be able to do something for me. Any other ways or ideas? Selling cryptocurrency for cash maybe? Won't be selling my body :-)
