I've often thought that microcosm would be a great platform for frame building resources etc. And always mean to ask velocio about having a frame building section on LFGSS. It's yet another thing where people blow smoke and give it the "dark art of this dark art of that" bullshit to put people off trying.

Ruined is perhaps a bit strong, but 'atmo' winds me up, because it's meaningless, and he does seem to take sticking bits of metal together really really seriously. I like his bikes, but mostly for the paintwork, which someone else does.

the straw that broke the camels back for me was when he compared new disc brake standards to the holocaust and then when I called him out on it, responded in the third person and basically said "im a jew I can say that".

I'm sure he's really nice in person but his Internet persona is too much for me to handle. Friday night lights can be really cool though, there are a lot of great builders on there.

Tbh, that doesn't sound that complex.

I wanted a bike that can be (1x)geared/fixed (done by use of clever BB) , drop-barred/flat barred, carry a front rack/ look alright without one, has space for mudguards, but not always look like they're missing, hydraulic brakes, fit half-way fat tyres, and have a disc fork. Everything on that list has been ticked, with the exception of mudguards, because fucking hell they're a pain... but I will fit some. Soon. Hopefully by the end of the week.

To go back to the earlier point of contention- I like the deposit method.
It makes sense. It allows time to save for your purchase. It makes it feel more real, and yet also you can forget about it for a little while.
I don't buy into the idea that it would put anyone off. It a bit like getting a suit made.
And I have far too much experience in this field (not suit buying).

I agree, make paying (say) £500 as painless as it can possibly be, then allow me to pay the rest either over a period of time, or as a lump sum at the end.

Communicate clearly that I lose the £500 if I pull out.

@coldharbour, could you shed some more light on the internal dynamo cable routing?

Does the fork have anything to tidy up the routing?

Frame routing is:

Into down tube, through BB and either out base of seat tube (there is a hole) or out top of seat if you decide to route it that way.Fork doesn't have any routing as of yet, but if you have a mudguard it happily sits around stay, if not heli tape on the inside of the fork works great.

Whe you say out of the top of the seat do you mean routing it through the seatpost (depending on design)?

Thinking Supernova seatpost mounted rear light either attached on post or on one of the rack eyelets.

This is what we often do. We have 3d printed brackets to mount them to cambiums, although not enough to sell at the moment. You can bodge it quite nicely with v brake washers and swearing though. The seat tube exit is for mudguard mounting.

Very nice! (Is that seatpost drilled for the wire to come out of?)

Was looking at the Talbot site and saw on the 4 season the nice routing to the rear mudguard. Probably a good option for 90% of the Isen's use. Will have to figure something for the 10% of the time when the guards come off and the 650b wheels go on.

Add connector to wire and you can swap around. @ad441 has this on his four seasons

Does the fork have the ability to easily mount a front dyanmo light near the crown?

This is the 'bodge' version, but still looks really clean from 'behind'

No, but I do have custom mounts of you are running edelus or B and M IQX

Will work with round stuff if you modify them. Bear in mind guard needs to be STIFF so no chromoplastics etc...

or folks can camp in our woods or fields.
