    Whether that would be the right decision I don't know, but I doubt anyone in the following car had the right level of medical knowledge to make the best decision either.

    I don't know the severity of the injury and I am not a doctor, but it sure looked grim and any open wound like that is presumably prone to infection, which does raise the question of whether carrying on is a good idea.

    More broadly this is worth placing within the context that traditionally cycling as a sport is pretty shit at looking after the welfare of its riders. Sure, maybe she decided to carry on herself but that's a bit like saying the days of Cofidis riders being free to handle their own 'preparation' were AOK.
