Personally the 8 seems better value and is actually a bit quicker than the X as it’s not having to deal with 3x the pixels... Also, Touch ID. I use it as an Oyster card so face ID just seems bananas in that scenario.

It sounds like supply of the X is going to be very limited, you might have to wait a long time.
