that paint job on the forks looks great. I wander if you can use a lacquer spray or something to darken the white a bit?

Brilliant muddy spin down the Downs Link on Sunday on @edmundro's old Kona (switched round contact points here: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/13855808/). Rides brilliant, handled slippy wet clay okay with slick tyres.
Need mudguards (en route) and bar ends for more hand positions, and possibly a slightly longer fork to raise the front end: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/eXotic-Rigid-Lightweight-Alu-Fork-1-Inch-Steerer-Disc-V-Brake-44-5cm-26-Inch-/140711536221.
I've already got a pink ano King nothreadset, so the tartyness will continue. Would the increased A-C of a 44.5 fork fuck the handling too badly though?

Wheelset advice needed.
This is a do it all speedy commuter, longer rides and transporting stuff bike. The aksiums were to get it rolling as a cheap OTP set.
I'm after strongish for carrying loads on the front (tins of paint, shopping and general stuff stuff)
Comfort is good, so thinking wider, but frame only has clearance for 25c with the mudguards, so while I would like wide rims not sure if crazy wide is practical.
Finally, for the daily stop start riding, I like light wheels because they accelerate nicely.I don't really know where to start, deep Vs box etc, but get the feeling I should be looking at 2 cross 32 spoke builds?decent spokes should give the comfort and some flex?

I was thinking of something similar, the Roberts frame is sort of pearly white so if I could find an appropriate clear coat to mimick the effect it might help make them match a bit better.. could backfire and just look awful of course.

• #116565
Undecided... will likely be a (posh) 1x beater build for a while tho...

Build your own. It's heaps fun, as they say down here, and you might save a penny. Novatec hubs and mavic open pros with 32h three cross?
-
• #116567
Go for 3-cross with 32 and use stainless double-butted spokes. A good quality box section alloy will be strong enough. That's what mine are and I've punished them for years commuting on horrible Surrey roads.
Edit: and sealed cartridge bearings for zero maintenance bother.

Nice, big fan of the way it looks geometry-wise. Something about the angle of the top tube and the straight forks. Cool proj!

• #116570
hell yeah, Hahannas are awesome!

• #116571
What are you training for?
