86g to go..

Ditch left crank arm and ride with one leg.

Two feet on one crank, side-saddle.

I was thinking about porting out the middle - but I get your concern about added stress points.
But loosing the grub screws on brake levers is a start. -
• #281
Good idea.

Lose barrel adjusters on brakes somehow?
-
• #283
Yup, and slower than latex due to poorer rolling resistance.

What happened?
-

With the Conti's? Just two punctures in two test rides. Turned out it was a microscopic bit of glass in the tyre but I've swapped it out for a Vittoria Superlight until I decide whether I want to drop £12 on a latex Challenge.

What are the bolts made of? Could you shave some weight by swapping all the steel/SS bolts out for ti?
-
• #287
Alligator iLink cables are lighter than standard gear/brake cables. You could lose some weight there.
-
• #288
You'll be also be losing Saint Eligius for the occasion, I presume? Or is the extra weight worth it for the good luck?
-
• #289
ride naked?
Presumably there's an aero/weight balance to be considered here.

Bolts can certainly be swapped, stem bolts, seatpost binder bolt, probably one on the shifter... most of the rest are alu or titanium. Might get some light cables after all... probably Aican Bungarus cause the outer is the same for brake and shifting - I can reuse / fiddle around with it when I convert this machine to flat TTing.

Bike felt great for the Reading CC 2 stage this morning. Took 20 seconds off the first hill and 10 seconds off of second one, compared to my times from 2015 (didn't race it last year). Very happy with 4th (10th in 2015). It's a good beginning to the season.
Huge thanks to @HoKe for the lend of a jersey. The top three all had skinsuits. I need a skinsuit @eyebrows

I saw an 8 year old racing in a skinsuit today. Everyone needs a skinsuit nowadays.

Your arms are waaaay too muscly! Think of the extra weight.
Great work and good luck for the rest of the HC season. I've enjoyed this thread so far.

How does one go about losing muscle mass in specific places? Potato peeler?
I might drill the levers, but I suspect it'll be hard to get the spacing right and they'll look shit. Bit nervous of those clamps on the carbon bars anyway, without introducing stress points.
Shorter and narrower bullhorns let me grip the shifter as part of the bar and change gear with minor hand adjustments, so all in all much better. They're 14g lighter too.
