  • Not a foolish idea... I've got 2 pairs of velotoze in various states of disrepair so will have a try before my final TT of the year.

  • Been doing this all year... get with the cheap programme.

    I use the top bits.

  • Ooh, that's a better idea, cheers! Means I can keep the lower half intact for emergency layers when super cold in the winter.

Shame about the weather on Sunday Ed :/ Just saw the results and the lad in a club local to me came third (sub 50). He's only 18y.o ffs.

  • thanks, was a massive waste of a day, other than a good chat with @specialist we both decided having started that we shouldn't have on safety grounds, hard to make that call after 3hrs of driving though!

  • Aerocoach Aeox: TL, wide, <£700.

  • Looks nice that

  • Fixed version in the offing?

  • Fixed version in the offing?

I asked this morning, no word yet.

  • Where did you ask? Rest assured I want a fixed one as well - we have a track design in the works which will be tubular, potential for one off tubeless fixed but it may cost a bit extra!

We worked bloody hard to get the price where it is, it's been nearly 6 months of design, manufacturing and testing - I thought we were finished about 5 weeks ago and then we hit a snag so that put things back. Flo actually tried to make polymer discs to start with but found it too hard so went to carbon (now we know why lol), but ours are now faster and lighter. There are 4 different groups (all in the UK) that have come together to make it a reality - but all worth it.

  • Looks great!
Is disc cover in your test full disc cover on shallow rim or deep rim with disc cover?

    Sort of this:

    vs this:

  • Where did you ask?

    Twitter

  • Full disc cover shallow rim

  • Ah right - sorry about that, been a bit mental juggling things!

  • new zipp 858:

    is expensive (no surprise)
    has bumps/ tubercles (no surprise)
and is not that wide (surprise!)

    24.4mm for 18 spokes/bumps
    23.7mm for 24 spokes/bumps

    so going narrow again
Interesting if this is actually faster...

I guess Aerocoach were there first (23mm wide wheel, trips for spokes):

  • not that wide

30% wider than the 18mm wheels we had when we first started trying to make our wheels more aero

  • ok middle ground :) not 28mm like a lot of new wheels

  • Which wheels are 28mm? Want.

  • 454 and 808 NSFW/FC

  • Hmm, I already have an 808FC. I should measure it again.

    Was probably thinking internal width.

  • Is there much savings in base bars? I have a Zipp Vuka (Alu) with 50mm riser stack to Zipp Vuka clips:

Is there some all-in-one system I can get for <£200 that'll be more aerodynamic yet still leave me with the adjustability of the Zipp setup?

  • You could do what I did and get a slightly more aero stem. Probably makes fuck all difference but you won't get much for <£200 when it comes to bars.

The new TriRig is where I was going to be heading just because I want to hide Di2 wires and I got on ok with their old one so you know why not. It's maybe $1000 though.

  • You could maybe get a flatter basebar, so long as you can still clamp the Zipp stuff to it.

  • tulas are fast... but not adjustable

  • You could maybe get a flatter basebar, so long as you can still clamp the Zipp stuff to it.

Yeah I was thinking that. I could always go narrower - I think I'm on 42cm

I'm happy to go 2nd hand (90% of the fucking bike is anyway) on the setup though...What about that PDQ/ADR stuff?

Just had a Google and saw the 3T Vola for £500 on Sigma, which doesn't look any more aero than what I'm using. Ridiculous.
