  • It's a bit tricky as the hook for the rubber band is directly under the body of the light.

If you have sufficient space on your bars, you can twist the light body to be parallel to the bars which makes it nice and easy to hook the band into the hook. But if something is close to the side of the light, you can't do this and it becomes a fiddle.

I still prefer it to the cateye mount.

  • Dynamo lights that works great in dusk/darkness with no ambient light; Supernova is it?

  • They are a bit awkward with full finger gloves, more annoying is changing mode on the move - you need to press the smallish button hard and with full finger gloves - ( on cold days ) - it's a pain. Everything has it's drawbacks though - even beer.
Exposure lights are very good and seem to be getting more affordable - for under 50 quid you'll be fine unless you live out in the sticks where goblins, owls and witches roam the country lanes.

  • Cheers. Looking at the Lezyne website it looks like you can remove the rubber band and use it with the standard mount which is a bit more tempting.

  • My faithful old moon shield must have came out of its clip on my bag last night never to be seen again.

Looking at a new rear light including the bontrager flare R.

Is a light with a "daytime mode" worth getting or just marketing BS?

  • Lost my old faithful 5 years of excellent service exposure diablo at the weekend. In some deep shrubbery south of Godalming in daylight. Doh. Why was I wearing it? Why did I not attach the lanyard? Why am I a knob? Sometimes. Anyway. Looking for a replacement if anyone would like to sell me same or something similar.

  • What's the shout for the best battery powered rear tail light right now?

  • Also looking at the Bontrager flare R (£50) - can anyone vouch is it worth the money or will any light with an equivalent lumen output and blink pattern work for a daytime light ? Tempted by the cateye rapid x2 , available for about £30 , recently bought the front version and its really bright. Looking for a rear with good side visibility which the x2 has. Only downside is it's held on by a thin o-ring. Would be worried it'd break and fly off without me noticing .

Maybe the old cateye TL-LD610 will do the job for a lot less money ...

  • I bought the flare for my yorkshire to london ride. Light is bright. Well good for the money. Got it for tad over 40.

My friend bought the see sense one which slightly priced more and seems decent too with its additional function whether its needed depends on your type of riding

  • Battery packs with 5.4 mm jack plug.

I'd like to upgrade the battery pack for my xeccon so it doesn't run out in 1 hour.

What oomph rating do I need.
This is the information I have for it:
    LED: 1*Cree XM-L2 LED
    • Max Output: 850 Lumens
    • Battery Pack: 8.4V 2600mAh Samsung Battery Pack

6600 mAh? Any links to waterproof ones would be great. Ta.

  • Looking for a light for night road riding, ideally 800+ lumens with an option for around 400. Need it to last long enough for a full night ride, so around 7/8hrs.

I've come to the conclusion that if I want something for under £100 I'll have to ebay it. All the chinese ones seem a bit dodgy, so was hoping for a recommendation of one that someone has bought and used and can recommend.

  • exposure Strada every time. Well worth the price, or look on eBay for a second hand one

  • Would be ideal for sure. But £200 is more than double my budget. I'm sure I can find something suitable - it's not for daily use, only occasional and I'm happy with an external battery - for much less

  • Hope Vision 1 with some spare AA batteries. Is this for a one off ride? If so you can use mine. In my experience lumens aren't representative of actual light power. The Vision is a favourite amongst non-dynamo'd audaxers.

  • I got mine on eBay for £100. Worth keeping an eye out

  • I bought the lezyne microdrive USB rechargeables and they barely hold any charge. Anyone had this issue?

    Anyone have any replacement recommendations?

  • I appreciate the offer, but having never done a 'proper' ride in the night I feel like I would benefit from something more powerful.

This is hopefully the first of many as I'm hoping to do some longer distance audaxy style stuff.

Not sure how long this will last in reality but it has a good level of incremental reductions in power. I use it for commuting and the light is good, has a remote on off as well if you're arsed about that sort of thing. There's also a 1700lm version on wiggle for under a ton, too.

There's a breakdown of the power modes/run times here: http://www.moon-sports.com/product-page/meteor-storm

  • What's the go to usb powered lights for commuting during the winter? The majority of the roads are well lit with some country roads towards the end of my commute.

  • That's a really good shout, thanks. I think I'll grab one of them. The ability to carry spare batteries is a plus, for me at least.

  • Ah yes, I forgot there's a little thing at the back to release the battery pack. Hadn't thought about that to be honest, but I can see how it would be very handy.

  • I've been thinking about the exposure ones...

  • This new light from PDW looks good for the price. Not sure if it'll be easy to get in the UK
Only 200 lumen so more of a city light I suppose
