Can I request pictures and feedback from anyone using the Metro Porteur rack?
They look a little flimsy in pictures but it'd probably be fine for what I need. And obviously it's a lot cheaper than Minoura/Pelago/Soma options.

I'd say no. I'd guess they will be able to rotate under the weight of the rack too easily.
My Soma porteur came with attachments for mounting to the wheel axle instead, I'd use those.

I tried the Metro Porteur rack but I can't get it to fit with my forks - I have disc forks, and they're a funny shape so I can't fit the stays on the axle, and if I put them in the mudguard eyelets and spaced it out they wouldn't be long enough for the rack to sit level.
Could someone with a Pelago or Minoura rack let me know if they have fittings which would clear the fork blades at the bottom, and whether they've had any problems fitting them to slightly long A to C forks?

I found my metro porteur a pain in the arse to get level. I had to bend that beefy steel tab quite a bit, which wasn't easy. No idea why they didn't make the tab adjustable.

Minoura rack has about 15mm of standoff at the bottom. Got mine to fit my disc forks without any hassle.

Perfect. That was exactly the kind of picture/advice I needed. Thanks!

Hi, how do you think about this Carhartt Pelago Bag System?
I am going to buy a Pelago Front Rack next week anyway, and wondering if the way the bag locks to the rack makes sense and works conveniently and safe in everyday use?

1) those are not adjustable straps so you are kind of stuck with that rack footprint
2) I would prefer clips over snaps - it would make attachment / removal easierLooks like a nice bag. Sold out though (on the website anyway).
My standard is the ILE and that's a very well thought out rack bag.

Thoughts on MackWorkshop rack bag over ILE?

https://ilequipment.com/products/velo-orange-pass-stow-rackbagSaw an ILE on the commute the other day and looks a bit OTT in terms of size but like the idea of a shoulder strap.

Love my ILE although I have never used the shoulder strap.
Cannot comment on the other one.
There is a very nice Chrome rack bag one in classifieds if you are looking at simpler options.

very nice Chrome rack bag one in classifieds
would be perfect but I have the same rack as OP so looks like it won't fit

Ah. Oh well. Good luck with the decision.

What rack do you use with your ILE?
Been looking at them online, do any London based shops stock them? -

I have a Surly 24 pack rack.
I got mine from always riding.
Looks like SBC carry them but probably worth calling ahead.

Just mounted the Pelago Commuter Rack.
There are four problems that everyone with a tight track frame with short rake will have to deal with:
Problem 1: the lower adaptor messes with the fork blades - I had to file out quite a bit to make it work, and even then, I had to mount them at a angle, I couldn't use them horizontally as intended. See second image below.
Problem 2: both upper adaptors are not reaching down to the fork crown enough if you have tight forks, I had to bend it downwards at an angle to make it work. See first image.
Problem 3: an issue closely connected to problem 2 - you have a long-hole in the upper adaptors for the brake mount. That long-hole can become dangerous in a tight-fork setting, because when there is a heavy load pushing on the rack from the top, it could happen that the upper adaptor is pressed downwards due to the long-hole and interfers with the tyre, which could lead to accidents. Because of that, I have cut-off the upper adaptor the end (while fixing problem 2) and drilled just a 6mm hole instead of the long-hole. Now I still have 2mm clearance at 7bar tyre pressure, and it won't be able to come any closer.
Problem 4: minor problem: the spacers for the brake are too large. I had to file them off at two sides so they did not interfere with the tyre and the headset. And I had to add 1 washer because they were not thick enough (but that's alright, the extra washer works fine)
So all in all, it took quite a while to mount this in a way that looks good, is rock-solid and safe. But I am still happy because I like the fact very much that it's stainless steel, especially as I had to hurt the black power-coat with my drill/file as outlined.

Having pissed around fitting a pelago to numerous forks from tight track forks to long a2c touring forks, I would say, you've done well.

Also, I've been testing out the prototype Restrap rando bag. It will "direct mount" onto the Restrap rack once we finish it, but will also come with a magnetic plate designed to fix to any other rack allowing you to enjoy a magnetic mounting rando bag. Had a meeting with Nate last night, we've discussed some final tweaks for the bag. It's going to be amazing. I've used a few different rack top bag arrangements over the last few years, and this is an absolute game changer.
Aiming to launch the system (rack/panniers/rando bag/duffle bag) in spring.

Weird mudguard stays on that bike btw
I have some of these left - https://ridepdw.com/products/eyelet-set?variant=24829600001
Would it be a good idea to use these to mount front rack on my eyeletless carbon fork? Obviously I am not planning to carry 25+ kg on this.
Rack is Soma Deluxe Porteur.
Thanks.
