Yes you are right. Many sellers get a bit optimistic with values. The thing with bikes and parts is you often find the same item selling for widely disparate prices depending ,as you say, on what the buyer is prepared to pay at the time.
With the vph's people pay more for the earlier ones with the seatbolt underneath - although I think they changed this as they cracked. Moser has a track one in red/white with seatpost bolt on top in his garage though.

Your own sales don't qualify as a "find"

I saw this, what do you think the gusset / webbing bits are made of?
Do you reckon they'd take kindly to being shot blast or chemically stripped?
-
• #58008
Picture 10 with the webbing looks to me like it is some type of body work filler like you would use on a car.
I would be very cautious. -

True, initially I was suspicious, too. But given the fact that the bb shell and the tt look like max, I don't think it is a cheapo diy job. If it had normal tubes, it could have been a re-welded diy gas pipe beater. If the price stays low, it might be worth to take a punt.
@mcamb no idea tbh but I guess there's ways to blast it without taking off too much material: low pressure, plastic- or dry ice blasting etc
p.s. I'd be more worried about the rust on the top tube, thin tubing doesn't take kindly to rust. -

Also looks like Max seat stays. Looks like the frame is definitely worth something. I'm worried about the rust tho.
Look at the chain stays.

Trying to identify the frame maker/material.
I'd guess A. Plumber / gas-pipe ;-)
Soz, couldn't resist; but (like you) I hope to learn from someone who does know. -

Not exactly eBay, but I thought this might be interesting to someone. Text doesn't say much, I think the photos speak for themselves.

Not sure, seems absurdly expensive either way...
@Si46, I think buyers do the price of the things. So I can say that a friend spent 3000 for a complete vph (chateuax d'AX white and red, like this one) and is the more expensive one that I remember. In Ebay u can find the 8000€ one, but the price is made by buyers, not sellers.
By the way, keep it and don't think a price to sell it.
