Oh, that's kind but a new set of Schwalbe 27" just arrived yesterday.
Increasingly I think you are right about the new spokes.
But, my plan is to service the hub, which definitely needs it. If it is knackered then a rebuild is definitely required, so no decision to make. If it is salvageable then we'll see.
