  • This is why it pays to build up a relationship with your co-operatively run LBS

  • Ha ha

Bought them off this well dodgy busker bloke

  • Sell the Comete/IO and get a Talbot Space bike?

  • Dodgy?

Only in the most loveable way

  • 1 - The Train to Isen
So we are moving to rural Scotland from London, but I will still be doing some work down here in the week. I would normally use the Train as my winter bike and my work bike, but I can't do that now as Work is now a fair bit further away from the lanes I would ride my winter bike on, hence the Rourke as a new winter bike.
The Train will stop down here and continue to be a work bike and mid week riding bike, until @coldharbour gets off his arse and sorts these Isens out. Then I will probably move most the decent bits of the train, Wheels, lights, rack, gaurds, stem and seat post over to the Isen and that will do work and mid week duties.
This will then leave the Train as a frame and bits, that I will move up to Scotland and do something silly with. As the clearances are enormous and forestry roads plentiful, I might go full monster truck gravel eater with it, for pure lols
    .

Right, so with the Winter Rourke finished, its time to start working on that ^

The Isen frame is actually being built to schedule, so I've ordered the groupset.

I've gone for 6800 Hydro as its not a vanity project, I need the bike rolling pretty much straight away and also I don't believe that the R8000 shifters will be delivered in October, as promised.

    Ordered so far

    • 6800 Hydro GS
    • PDW's
    • SON thru axle dyno hub

Bits from Train to move over

    • Front and rear lights
    • Rack
    • Maybe saddle
    • Maybe Thompson stem and SP

    Bits from parts box

    • Bonty bars
    • Maybe bonty stem and seat post

    Bits to finialise

    • Wheels - Maybe DT Swiss
    • Tyres - 28's of some kind, more road than groad.
    • Charging device.
  • Ok, so due to Shimano being annoying and discontiuing parts of the 6800 GS alreadt, I've gone for full R800 and i'm now playing the waiting game.

    Updated order list

    R8000
    PDW's
    SON thru axle dyno hub

Bits from Train to move over

    Front and rear lights
    Rack
    Saddle
    Thompson stem and SP
    Eastway bars

    Bits to finialise

Wheels - Maybe DT Swiss, CXrays
Tyres - 28's of some kind, more road than groad.
    Charging device.

  • Wheels sorted for Isen

DT Swiss 340 to Archetype with CXrays & pro-lock nipples for rear

Front rim & pro-locks sorted, just need the Dyno and spokes (CXrays) to appear and then I can get a lesson in lacing...

  • Got a spare dyno if you're buying new? :)

  • Any more detail on the little piece you're using to extend the front mudguard forward of the brake?
Also, after reading this multiple times, I still have no idea what each of your bikes is for.

  • neither does Rob

  • Should we just say people who ride regularly on Q1 are weird?

  • We're in q2 mate

  • Q2 is the metropolitan elite

  • On the Rourke?

I will take photos this weekend, sorry I forgot that I said I would do this.

So the bikes in this thread are for the following

    • Red Rourke is my road bike in Scotland that has mudguards, so a winter/wet road bike.

    • The Talbot Spacebike is just mental, that's it.

    • The Beater is for locking up at Kings Cross when I'm not in London for 4 nights and don't want to leave the trainbiek out in the wild for that time

    • The TrainBiek is my london workhorse ans I use it to get around to all my sites/offices. I also use it for midweek clubrides and laps with @Dan when he's not pretending to be ill.

    • The Isen will replace the trainbiek as my main london bike. I'm retiring it upto Scotland as it's provided enough service and tbh it's a loveable dog, but it does my head in on Hill sessions and laps as it just saps you like a bastard.

I then have my MTB and BCC Rourke up in Scotland that are used for falling down mountains and General road riding.

    So basically, what @dan said

( I do have my eye on another project, as I miss my singlespeed flyer and my Roberts track and I want to go back to Track now the move is sorted, but that's another story)

  • I only get the Q1 hit twice a week now. I miss #Q1Lyfe

  • @dan is definitely the metropolitan liberal elite

His duvet is just copies of the Gaurdian

  • I ordered a SON thru axle job today 😏

  • Haha got a quick release dyno wheel to sell me now?

  • Sadly not, it's staying on the TrainBiek as it's the Son SL and Matt made the forks with the contact plates.

Also the Front rim has an enormous ding in it from when I got hit head on.

  • Here you go

It's like a bracket in the front mudguard, that I hacked and modified to fit this set up, or did you mean what I'd bodged together for the rear?

  • Isen ordering update

    Exciting one this too....

Didn't go for PDW's in the end, on the nod from @ad441 I've pumped for the 37mm versions of these Radial jobs. £17 with postage isn't to be sniffed at.

  • They look pretty slick, shame they only ship them inside the UK

  • I've just got a pair of those Radial guards too. They look class. I've just had a look at there bikes too. Anyone ridden them? They look astonishingly good value for money.

  • Thanks for posting these, might try and knock something equivalent up this weekend!
