I seem to be trying hard not to reach it. The desolation of
smaugliver.Just need to get the bikes rolling again and some motivation to head out on some slightly smaller scale adventures. Parentals have left for Spain this morning so I'll have a bit more time to ponder my life choices... ;)

Have been using the effeto Mariposa rim strips with good results until now... Using a set of brand new schwalbe x-one's on crests. The tyres are so tight they're "wrinkling" the rim strip and I can't get a good seal. Air is pissing out around the valve and nipples.
Any suggestions for a remedy? Try a different tape perhaps? Didn't get on very well with Stan's before.

How many laps of rim tape are you using?

What's the bets technique for getting a tubeless tyre to come off the rim? The pair I'm trying to remove are stalwart in their resistance to breaking their seal.

Use heel of hand to push the bead out of the rim. Wheel flat on table and push downwards trying to get beed into the well of the rim if that makes sens.

Like this but possibly using both hands

It's these things, not really tape-like...

I'll try later. Makes me glad I've never had a terminal flat on tubeless- being unable to remove the tyre renders my spare tube a bit academic.

One time I also stood on the tyre and leveraged the rim with my hands.

Hmm, think this may be user error. Turns out I have been using strips for max 24mm outer width on a rim that measures 26mm.

I feel like the reverse Ed Scoble, I literally cannot get a mm of the bead out on these tyres.

Two people= done in seconds. Needed that third hand.

You could have used a hairy long toenailed foot!

Bought some IPA to clean the rim.
2 layers of yellow tape put on
Valve installed
Tyre installed
Valve core removedCan see rim tape out the side of the tyre so there's no way this thing is going to hold any air.
orders tubes
Pub?

Not in my slipshod experience :)

Even if it had sealant and was soaped up I fail to see how such a big gap between tyre and rim will seal. Does it need more tape or some other magic idiocy to be performed?
-
• #1169
Ok, I just pushed the tyre down and it inflated. Fucking hell I am magic.

But no valve core in. Doh!

Punk?

Ok, well, that was actually easier than I thought. Now I just wait for it to explode, right?

Plumbers tape on valve extenders?

But you got it seated right? You'll have to get the valve core out anyways to put sealant in
