Jesus wept, that's nearly WT power levels.
-
• #16528
Or maybe your number pinning is costing you around 50W? :P
-
• #16529
Wait, I need to calibrate my PM?!
-
• #16530
What is it? Bare in mind, if you answer 'Strava' I'm going to have to ban you...
Hang on, haven't we already have this convo in another thread?
-
• #16531
Oh, probably! Stages, which I calibrate every ride. Although I do have a Tacx trainer that reads pretty consistently.
Also, did anything fall off your bike?
-
• #16532
Nah, it was the valve tape. It came unstuck and was slapping on the stays making a horrible racket. I thought there was a train on the road about to kill me!
-
• #16533
Stages
Are you only pedalling with your left leg?
-
• #16534
I could hear this very faint creaking noise coming from between my arms on outleg of the H10, only for my poorly torqued stem to pitch the bars forward 45 deg at the turn. The marshall said "oh my giddy aunt" as I tried to wrench them back into position through the roundabout.
-
• #16535
After you've bought yourself a torque wrench, get yourself a P2M, SRM or Powertap. Then you can spend more time training coz you won't have to keep answering "what meter?!" questions :P

shudders 2 x bad = ?
I've not watched it (so I don't know anything about the guy or his setup) but TTF suggests that Project 49 rider did his 49min off only 283W, though he did have a few rides on the same course and someone else suggested the course might vary 2-3min with atmospheric conditions.

Supposedly 2 x 1%! Yeah, I don't believe it either.
Not sure I really want to watch it given I'm not going to go under 50, but good on him to have the tenacity to keep repeating the same course until the conditions were right.

• #16539
I wonder how close he lived to it though? It's 3hrs driving each way for me, which is the only reason I bothered racing at all last time - I'd driven out to the bastard may as well ride it.
-
• #16540
It's a fooknof a long way, even further if you're doing the v881/r25/3h combo next weekend, I'm hoping with a lift share next week I don't feel the need to tear my eyes out by the end!

I thought there was some chat a few pages back about nutrition for a 100 but I can't find it now.
What do people recommend/expect to use themselves?
I was thinking 1.5l of energy drink in a bladder down my skin suit, and as many as 8 gels (in IM racing I used to aim at a gel every 30mins)?
Anything I do needs to be sorted out this afternoon as I'm just back from hols and I start at 0817 tomorrow.
-
• #16542
I'd want 2l really. Don't want to be running out.
Gel every half hour is plenty if they're big ones like ZipVit.

Fast day on the E2 today. I was not fast - set my bike up in a hurry and had brake rub on the rear. Currently sulking all the way home as average power was within 2w of my FTP so couldn't have gone any harder.
Some guy drafted me for about 3km near the start when I overtook him. Should I report him? Couldn't look me in the eye in the hall afterward.
-
• #16544
Should I report him?
Yes. Although it's unlikely to have any effect unless somebody else spotted it, your corroboration might be useful if somebody else did notice.
-
• #16545
Strava Flyby evidence?
-
• #16546
At least you got to ride, h10/8 abandoned after someone had an accident before they'd even started. Hope they are ok.
-
• #16547
accident
Collision rather than accident, which is not to say I have any idea who made the mistake. I take the fact that the plod had cleared off before 1600h as a positive sign, but it was obviously not trivial because the ambulance service was there for over an hour.
-
• #16548
Didn't the organiser have to deal with an accident in a previous event as well? If so, that's very unlucky on his part. Hope the rider concerned is Ok.

Chapeau!
I've seen a lot worse. I mean, -I- am a lot worse. Is your PM calibrated?
