  • Maybe I'll race it next season, if I stop getting injured every time I get half fit, so no rush to chop things

  • Progress has been made, frame is ordered and several SRAM red bits been bought. Black & Celeste colours such as this

  • SIDEQUEST: I have to get my fixie skidder (and myself) ready for that silly red bull laps race. Thinking in getting road pedals already, low Q factor and stack if possible... Speedplay? Or this too much of a hassle? Shimano? Look? Any advice would be appreciated

  • I really need a bit more aggressive position on this so straight post and -17 130mm stem wanted, Testers top cap if I can be arsed to measure it

  • You'll need a brake for it too? Excited about the Bowman, it's gonna be great. Glad you're okay after the crash dude.

  • I've got some SS drops on it already!
Been a bad year for me with all the crashing, someone smarter would just buy a car

  • This is still going... slowly. Frame is coming at some point in october, same as wheels. Even the cables were out of stock and i'll have to wait... The boons of going cheap
Anyways, here's a list of what i got so far:
-Almost complete Sram Red groupset (minus chain and cassette). 53/39 cranks, climbing will be great fun :(
-Hylix carbon seatpost, PRO Turnix carbon saddle of my other bike
    -Look blade carbon/ti peddles
    -Dura Ace cables all everything
-Parts bin cockpit until I figure what i need: thomson x2 and 3t ergosum
-CN Carbon 50x23 tubeless wheelset. Schwalbe pro one 23mm tires

  • So that leave me missing some bottle cages, a chain, 11-28 cassette (ultegra?), chain, (long) tubeless valves and tape, handlebar tape (cinelli volee almost surely) and probably a new cockpit (acetoned kalloy to something with a nice curve, like 3t tornova or ritchey neo classic).

  • Got some news from Bowman, expected arrival of the frames got delayed until end November... That's it, almost two months later! In the meantime I've been doing a list of the components with weights (Internet weights, I don't have any reliable means of weighting stuff) in grams:

    1. Frame w/hanger: Bowman Palace R (56) 1150gr
    2. Fork (cut): Bowman Palace R 314gr
    3. Headset: Bowman (Token) 67gr
    4. Seatpost clamp: Bowman 22gr
    5. Seatpost: Hylyx 180gr
    6. Saddle: Pro Turnix Carbon 150gr
    7. Stem: Parts bin placeholder 150gr
    8. Handlebar: 3T ergosum 40cm 245gr
    9. Brakes: SRAM Red 240gr
    10. Front derailleur: SRAM Red 69gr
    11. Rear derailleur: SRAM Red 145gr
    12. Crankset: SRAM Red GPX 53/39 175mm 609gr
    13. Bottom Bracket: SRAM GPX 105gr
    14. Chain (Uncut): KMC X11 SL (Silver) 228gr
    15. Shifters: SRAM Red 280gr
    16. Cassette: Ultegra 11-28 292gr
    17. Wheels: CN Carbon 50 x 23mm tubeless 1450gr
    18. Quick Release: Lifeline Ti 46gr
    19. Tires: Schwalbe Pro One 23mm tubeless 470gr
    20. Pedals: LOOK Blade Carbon Ti 180gr

    TOTAL 6392gr

  • Handlebar tape, wheel valves and cables will push it over 7 probably. That's a shame. Drill holes in something.
Wait, did you ninja edit? 6.3kg?

  • Abomination of a format that list, but that's the best i can do with my IT skills. Anyways, missing a few of bits and bobs, like cables, bartape, tubeless stuff... I'm used to ride heavy farm gates anyways, anything below (or slightly above) 7kg will be a sucess for the money I'm spending

  • Yeah messed up 6932 = 6392.

  • Well in that case. Very respectable for a non carbon frame

  • Very interested to see how this builds/weighs - have been tempted by this frame for a while now

  • Looks like a great build. I'm hoping to do something similar with an Aethin or Specialized Allez Sprint. Shame they're making you wait but that's what you get if you want a boutique brand I suppose.

Those Lifeline skewers creak like fuck in my experience.

  • The allez sprint was my first option to be honest, but I don't like the OTP builds and the frame alone is £500 more... Also, all the rad colours are America only.
Shame, best looking Aluminium frame in my opinion.

  • So this has finally arrived, just the day I left the UK for Christmas.

  • There's a problem with the SRAM cassette (see mechanics & fixing) so no hopes to ride it until next year.
I'll surely need a silly long stem, with a faceplate stem mount for Garmin. 3t?

  • Bike is here, some work has been made. Looks very good in the flesh, I'll try to do some better pictures once it's rideable.

  • Ready for sunday? So jealous.

  • Nah, I rounded the top cap bolt. Blaming the Manchester darkness and black torx bolt, or I'm an idiot. Maybe a bit of both.
Also forgot to buy barrel adjusters and no one here seems to stock, will try some other LBS tomorrow.
Wouldn't go to Holme moss in a untested bike built by me tough, chances are the thing would explode going down at 50mph.

  • Inline barrel adjusters are unnecessary and prone to loosening, I don't have any on my bikes and they're fine, you just need to be good with a cable puller.

  • It have (removable) stops in the downtube, no need for inline barrels, fortunately.
I'll need adjusters anyways, I'm pretty bad fiddling with gears already

  • Got a cold, so today instead of working I just shivered, coughed and put the thing together.
The downtube stops don't fit the barrels so I just did it with none. Works beautifully now but I know I'll regret this at some point.
Always used Shimano before this. Somehow feels unrefined, but the FD works better. Braking looks a bit shit.
