Yesyerdah was frustrating, so close to finishing it, literally all thats stopping me now is 2 stepped ferules, the toptube/seattube lug has a massive lug nail in it so i need to saw off a bit(a lot) of the damn seatpost and the fact that im just a bit shit at building bikes anyway.
Also, what noodle do I need here?

No need for a noodle I shouldn't think

yeah, the other option is a cable stop/ferrule, but i've not idea what :(
-
• #81
You just run the cable like this

Should just be a normal metal/plastic brake ferrule or the cable. Might just go in there without anything on the end. Bear in mind there may be paint in the hole that makes it smaller

From the looks of this - the cable just goes straight in probs with a ferrule, obviously yours will have slightly more interesting routing due to the drop top tube

He was at mine fucking around with this for hours. The hole in the bridge is too small for a ferrule

Stepped ferrule bodge?

Ooooh haha...
Yeah I'd do what @richardshill says - most lbs will have them in stock, or be able to help you out -
• #87
Yeah the original plan was to route the cable like that @Miitch but the bridge is just a hole, must be a stepped ferrule of some kind, wondering whether to just say fuck it and buy V brakes anyway now, was only using Cantis as i got 2 free sets and so it was free, its working out probably more expensive.

You need a part that allows you to adjust the cantilever brakes. So a ferrule will work but wont be correct.
-
• #89
Surely the barrel adjuster on the brake lever will suffice?

• #90
None of this matters anymore, its payday which means #cantisaredead and #makevbrakesgreatagain #yolo and all that.
-
• #91
This still won't be built till October...
-
• #93
you might .. I am sad that this is not getting cantis, your gf deserves better
-
• #94
Yeah, better braking so that she doesn't die.
-
• #95
I meant she deserves someone better than you
-
• #96
yeah probably... but they do design things for a reason, so its probably better to have them, plus its less likely to move around and with a proper part it sits in the frame better and the cable will be positioned better and it will probably be stronger.
-
• #98
Well I can't help her with that.
-
• #99
bit late, but the thing with that paint is it dries super quick, so you have to get the frame uncomfortably close to the nozzle for it to not dry in the air before it gets to the bike

lol yeah that woulda been handy to know! thanks i'll keep it in mind if I ever bother to use it again!
