THINK i've resolved that adware pop up issue using an app called malwarebytes.

Malwarebytes is a 30 day free trial, and will download a file titled
mbam.dmg (or something similar) to your downloads folder. Open that
and install it to your applications, and then open Malwarebytes from
there, and choose to 'scan.' It'll show you a list of any
Adware/Malware files that it finds, and then restart your Mac for you
in order to remove them. Here's the link for the download:
