  • Cheers all.... there was a set of NOS Nervex on ebay for an okay(ish) price but before I pulled the trigger I was wondering if it might be a cheeky shortcut to get a donor frame instead. Always had a thing for Nervex Pro but could never find a frame in my size that matched my (very specific) requirements.

So yeah... I just bought the lugs.

Not that I have any immediate plans to make a frame out them, but it's good to know I have them ready for when I need them!

  • Buy some cheap standard lugs from ceeway and get some good needle files, a sharpie and a small metal saw (dunno what the English name is). I bet you will be entertained for hours designing your own. There's loads of info and inspiration online.

  • a small metal saw (dunno what the English name is)

A piercing saw is probably what's needed, although there probably aren't enough long cuts involved in making filigree lugs to make it worthwhile over just drilling and filing.

  • As fun as this sounds (genuinely) I think I'm the kind of person that would burn through waaaaay too much time dithering around with all the different options. And I probably wouldn't come up with anything as pretty as the Nervex design.

That said, I don't particularly like the Nervex seat lug (or at least the bolt hole) and the ebay set doesn't come with a bottom bracket shell or fork crown, so I'll have plenty of opportunity for dithering with options anyway.

I quite like the fork crown from a Bob Jackson Vulcan:

    mmmmmmm, pointless ornamentation! ; )
