It's envy- cyclists get places faster, are healthier, the Lycra thing is at its most vehement coming from people who are well on the way to type 2.

Jesus what a desperately sad story. Poor little guy.

Did lol.
After clicking away three lots of bullshit adverts and signup requests, skimmed the first paragraph and thought, "nah".

So sad :(

“Cyclists are their own worst enemy,” Cllr Woods added. “A small number of red-light dodgers abuse the system in the streets and we fear they’ll continue cycling in the tunnel.”
Cllr Peter Golds told last month’s Tower Hamlets Council meeting that the tunnel built in 1902 was never designed for cycling.

Without using the tunnel, cyclists - who are not allowed on the Docklands Light Railway - face an eight to ten-mile diversion to reach Canary Wharf from south London.
Or, you know, they could just walk. Like at least 2/3 of the people in the tunnel with bikes...

That article isn't entirely accurate where it states that cyclists aren't allowed to use the DLR.
They are allowed on the DLR, off peak.
So not too different from the (not deep) Underground network.

A bizarrely reasonable comment in the Daily Mail. It's not about cycling and cyclists, it's about individual ego:

Walk the 8-10 miles? That'd take ages
-
• #47986
Bro do you even tfl.
The evil looks taking a bike on once was enough to put me off having to do it ever again.

Another horrific crash. Being out of the UK, bit slow on the uptake on this news.

He meant cyclists could walk through the foot tunnel.
-
• #47989
And should, unless the rules were to change.

Friendly bunch on mass public transport.
Aren't they?
;-)ETA - at a guess there's probably a connection between that and the quality travel conditions their ticket (and entitlement) buys them.
And yeah - I tfl all the time.... :)I find it bearable outside of peak hours.

Sometimes I'd get the bus to remind myself why I cycle even in the rain.
-
• #47993
Yep. You are right.
Many a time I've stood dripping, waiting for the lift at the foot tunnel, and remarked to a fellow cyclist, with a wry smile, 'Still, better than being on the tube.....':-)

I meant to post this ages ago. Interesting interview on the social psychology of cyclists as an outgroup. https://thepsychologist.bps.org.uk/volume-25/edition-9/interview-vulnerable-road-users

Imagine Trump talking about this "it was bad weather, caused by Hilary and Obama".

• #47998
Is it not the will of God? Surely Rick Perry has something to say on this matter.

You see that rainbow in the picture? It's the gayers fault, obvsly.

This is the street my parents live on - about 1 mile from downtown Houston. It will continue to rain for the next 4 days.

Not really.
