You might not need one but they are handy when going very slow/pushing (although the revo standlight is pretty nuts), looking ahead on "techy" descents (focusing on places your bike isn't pointing at the time) and for opening farm gates/going for a piss etc.

I would always use helmet light offroad. You don't want to be 'flicking' your front wheel into sharp corners to see where you're going to go.

Revo is off road, there is only one version. Their website is just a bit rubbish. Has a decent wide (round) beam, paired with a helmet light I've been really pleased with mine.
