D2 engine is the Ford 1.6 job yes? Reason for replacement likely from standard dpf self destruction (doesn't regeneration properly so fills sump with fuel, fuel isn't a great lubricant so top end of engine wears out at a massively increased rate = bin). Same for the mazda but weirdly when those engines are in a Ford they don't do it very often at all.
Gearbox is a weird one though in a v70 gearboxes ate not an issue, in the c30/50 cars it's a 100% ford box but they don't have problems AFAIK.

What are your thoughts on buying a car that's got ~190k miles on it but has had its engine and gearbox replaced recently (all documentation present and looks legit). It kinda scares me off as I know very little about cars but I guess a lot of people are like me and it might be a good opportunity to get the car I want at a decent price.
