That route looks pretty much perfect actually.
New to off-road touring, will have a better idea of our daily mileage once we've done ridgeway and South Downs over the next couple of weeks. -

South down is super fun and massively underrated. Did it over two days with nice weather. If it rains though, it turns into a bit of a superglue pain in the ass.
Anyway I think my point was I enjoyed doing around 50-60 mile days mixed terrain (accounting for roughness) to see shit but still ride comfortably and cover ground.Post pics!

Will do and thanks for the tips chief!
On road touring we're happy with 40-50mile days so would probably go more like 40ish off road, assumed we'd want 3 days for South Downs actually. -

I was on my own so did a double day, but for how nice it is, I would do it over 3 again with pub stops. Taking your time is underrated.

There's a thread for the South Downs 100, it may be of some use.

Priorat region of Spain is good for dirt roads- basically all the tracks through vineyards are fair game. Nice weather for riding in spring or autumn and fairly regular small towns where you can always get coffee, top up food or taste wine. Have a google and you might find some routes?

Some friends did a backpacking trip of the Via de la Plata route in Spain. Might be worth a look.

In the north of Spain you have the Monegros and the Bardenas Reales (just up the road from me).
So, I want an excuse to load up my new ogre and ride off into the sunset.
We're touring Eastern Europe next year anyway but on paved and good paths so might take lht anyway, need to justify the 3.0" tyres on the ogre I convinced myself I needed.
So.
Looking for a week or so of cheap desert touring preferably with a cheap flight at either end. Think baja divide on a shoestring..
Any suggestions for routes and regions to look into? The more dirt roads, epic geography and stuff the better.
