I rolled a brand new one of those and wrote it off in '97. #dadstillnotoverit

Shit, that was twenty years ago.

I kind of like that Rover. Shame it's an auto.

Is Auto like the Quartz of the Watch thread?

ha. excellent
yeah, it's like you have no driver cred if you have an auto.

If you live in town I'm sure you know this on Roupell Street near Waterloo Station.
Citroen SM, I believe powered by a Maserati engine.

Aye, he used to have a melee of Citroens there, this is the jewel in the crown.

And sadly rotting - I walk past it almost every day.

Speaking of rotting away, there's a 'bargain' MK1 Escort on ebay at the moment. No crazy bids at all...

That'll be E30's in a couple of years...

That's my point

I spent a long time looking for a mk1 escort a couple of years back - even since then I think they've gone up in price a bunch.
Apparently it was the Fast and Furious film where they fought a tank in one that made the prices go crazy.

Can't say i believe that - i have built about 6 mk1 / Mk2 Escort rally cars, they have been silly money since at least 2010
-
• #36141
I'm not sure I buy it either
-
• #36142
If I was trying to convince you to lend my your car for the next F&F instalment then I'd definitely say that, however.
-
• #36143
Nah, they were silly money before that. Historic rallying is mostly to blame.
-
• #36144
Aah - fair enough. I think the tank fight sounds like a better reason though ;)
-
• #36145
As soon as you put the word historic in front of anything, the price is insane.
A period historic spec BDG engine for an escort from Wilcox is 35k.

How iconic.
I meant ironic.

Car values go up when people who couldn't afford their dream cars as youngsters can afford them in their middle age.
And by that time there aren't many good ones left.
Buy a Saxo VTS now while you still can.

Is anyone else following the build of this?
E-Type shell over a wider caterham type chassis with an 3 rotor 20b and Porsche arches?

20b or v12... Choices Choices
eBay? Nojoke
Granted, there will be melts, but there may also be Mr and/or Mrs Right.
I'd be inclined to highlight the new engine and the miles covered on that rather than the odo reading, jus saying.
I really want us to get this over the line.:)
