That's what I like about the ride "winner" they've hid their light under a bushel.

OK Jonny. Good to meet you too
So to end on a positive note . It was a great ride. Excellent choice of route and really good riding company and a relief to catch up with the sprinters at the viewpoint after being dropped at the start of the sprintSorry to derail the thread
Thanks again andy -

this thread is also for congratulating South Africa for getting silver.
So the J of G got gold and the G of J got silver? Neat!

Crikey, you wouldn't get me doing that tandem track racing!2.30 min is funny, as is the footage of riders stopping to do their own repairs/inner tube changes.
Some gorgeous bikes.

historic bump andy! this was a good ride and should be repeated before the next london olympics!
one to save for sunnier times though, on account of windsor park and the beer gardens at the end

One of the best examples of team work I've had the privilege to witness. For those that didn't witness it, @shootthebreeze did a Kwiatkowski-esque move to put @jonny in a position to apply the coup de grace.

This footage of the 1948 road race was posted on Twitter earlier;

I think @jonny attacked in exactly the same spot as Jose Bayeart to record his famous win.

thanks andy.
I had studied that footage many times in preparation for the famous forum race of ten years ago.
i have said it before and I will say it again - it is without doubt my finest achievement on the bike

Well done for putting that up , great bit of cycling film.
nice to meet you skydancer, but you are right, take it to a dedicated thread.
this one is for thanking andyp for putting the ride together, including the reccie, the unseen work of the ride leader. andy - you left before i could give it to you but i bought you a nice pint of cider in that pub at the end - was tasty.
