  • If you want a place to stay near Cahors, let me know...

  • Thabks, don't think I'll go that west though. Just riding down to nice to meet the lady for a holiday and then back. Taking my time through the alps each way.

  • Cahors eh? Whereabouts?
My future in-laws live in Belaye.

  • SMT is the better choice.

But you should buy a gixxer.

  • Thinking it would be nice to rent an American bike for the weekend in "Fall".

Does anyone have any tips or know what New England / up state New York is like in mid to late Oct? Do rental places usually have equipment you can rent/borrow?

  • Saint-martin-de-vers

  • No worries... Plenty of great motorbiking to be had out that way!

  • Should be some epic autumn leaf colours in upstate NY/ NE by then. NYC is more late October.

  • Cheers.

Going to drop a few rental places a message.

@soul did you rent all your gear in the states, or did you take your own kit with you?

  • Will get on it. I think I'll wait tonwinter to pick one up. Save paying summer tax.

  • I took a full textile suit, helmet and gloves with me.

  • Cheers. Yes partner too?

Not usually a fan of the OTT café mods, but really liking this

(reckon they could have done something smart and under-seat with the exhaust though)

  • Cheers. Yes partner too?

Yup - both of us brought full gear. Don't regret it either as having all our own stuff was much more comfortable over 4,500 miles.

  • Makes sense. This would just be a little 1-2 day jornt.

  • Maybe ask Eaglerider what gear they have available; the one in Chicago (where we started) was pretty limited...

We're probably doing another two weeks in Sep/Oct this year, looping through California, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and back to California.

  • Cheers. I'll check them out.

Love to fit in a west coast road trip before we return. Ideally split into 3 vehicles - convertible muscle car - motorhome - comfy cruiser. Not sure whether there will be time though.

  • Having heard Ducati multis with termignoni exhausts exhausts I think about chopping the ktm in for one. They sound incredible. But the servicing puts me off. Doesn't sound like I could do it all myself.

That and the few grand I'd need to spend to get one. Not sure it's a few grand more fun than the ktm. Maybe I'll go ride one. If Ducati will let me.

  • Mate has/had (think forsale as hes constantly got the fear of theft or vandalism) street fighter with one of those one, not completely mental loud, but enough to cause chest pain lol. Sounds genuinely amazing at all throttle % duties though. Think he tried it on a track and got hooked so is now after a cheaper older bike he can track out

  • Yeah I've not heard an exhaust like it. Dude over the road has a monster eco with one nuts.

  • 848 with termi's hitting revs was one of the most ludicrous and awesome sounds I've ever heard

  • You need a new bike ;)

  • Chin scratching tonight, coffee and decision tomorrow morning, A272 on Saturday.

Considering budget, went to see that Street triple today. Many umm and ahhh's. Service packet is bursting, with the exception of it being let down by the third owner not taking care of the braking department, so an MOT failure there. Aside from that, it's had it's oils, chains and tyres at pretty regular intervals.

If anything, tyres and rotors will be changed so might haggle accordingly. Tyre seems symptomatic of either classic up and down straight roads or maybe motorway. Chain is clean. Bearings smooth. No engine knocks or rattles. Rotors I'm not comfortable with either, as too grooved.

Debate comes down to either get one now, or just skip riding for rest of summer and buy in winter. Much chin scratching.

  • Tough one - bikes are so much cheaper after Christmas in the UK. I used to love a January bargain. I'd avoid that striple fella - rotors, suspension rebuild and 36k would have to be dirt cheap to get my antenna twitching. Good luck either way though!

  • Trust your gut. So no.

  • .....fine fine..Goddamned voice of reason. Don't you have some beer to drink and Hippy to go prod or something?

@Jung Going to view a far cleaner one for a bit more today, much obliged for the advise.
