  • I noticed a retailer had the dura ace shifters and brakes listed for less than the rrp for the ultegra shifters and brakes. So I ordered them.

The next day the retailer changed their online listing to state that the cost was for shifters only. My parcel arrived Friday and was indeed only the shifters. Luckily I had a screen capture from when I placed my order. They don't have the calipers in stock but will give me a gift voucher for the cost along with the brake hoses.

I can then order the calipers from another retailer and have £260 to spend with the original vendor - which will to a decent way toward di2 cables, battery and handlebars and other finishing kit.

tldr I got dura ace shifters and calipers for less than ultegra money.

I will go for the ultegra rear mech as it will take the large cassette.

  • Classic #buyer fail

  • Sounds like #buyer win to me

  • Have you decided on the wheels/rims yet?

  • Light bicycle rims
    Hope hubs
    Built by a moron

  • Ha! Have you figure out the exact rim you are going for?

  • I think so, it was the one @chak steered me towards but not at a computer right now and trying to find it on a phone will drive me mental.

  • I'm sure you're all decided and sorted for rims, but these are the Light Bicycle ones I plumped for on my Field (except chose disc, of course).

  • these are 700c though. We are onto 650

  • Ah, my mistake.

Well, the 650b version of that!

Looking forward to this Isen, as well as the others.

  • What colour hubs? We're torn between orange or black.

  • I was originally looking at orange hubs too but looking at the first frameset produced it seems that they dropped the orange on the seat tube for a magenta colour. See latest pics from Caren on their instagram

  • I don't need to, I was there! (Harriet is my other half). There's still a hint of Orange under the pink, and Harriet will be getting the Fizik Luce with an orange stripe.

  • Ha! So you had the exclusivity of seeing it. Good to know the orange would still work

  • Such Isen envy

  • Any clues from your research on where you can get a full R8070 Groupset?

Saw the shifters at a decent price individually on tredz but says pre-order for December!

  • Also, as it is hand sprayed, I expect the colours will differ slightly between each bike.

  • Black hubs.

Easier to sell on at a later date.

  • Yep, black has been settled on in the last hour. Don't want to take attention away from the sick fadez.

  • I was originally thinking Antifreeze Green hubs from Onyx Racing, however the new paint scheme makes me think that sticking to black hubs is the right move.

@chiroshi - How long until we see the first full build posted? Harriet's got a healthy head start from the rest of us.

  • Groupset is here, all the rest of the bits have been ordered today from bike24 so should be up and going by the end of next week. At the moment it looks like the downtube cable adjusters will be the last piece, have to wait until Matt is back from holiday on Monday to post to Switzerland!

  • I now have the Di2 hydro shifters and brakes, but have to wait for the ultegra medium cage mech rear mech and the front mech to be released.

Time to order hubz n rimz

Next up - what fucking handlebars that can take the bar end di2 port.

  • new choices on rim

    https://www.lightbicycle.com/XC-650B-mountain-bike-hookless-27mm-wide-cross-country-rim-tubeless-compatible.html

there is a standard 320g or lightweight rim 270g - which should i go for

    @chak ?
    any suggestions?
