Not Richard Tillbrook??

He succeeded Richard I think, I certainly remember him mentioning the name. He was Michael Etheridge.

Volunteering for a few hours at Barnands castle has made dnfing slightly less depressing. Not sure i've been much use - did some minor bike repairing. But has been a good experience and am very grateful they're letting me stay here.
Now badly need to 'slerp'.If anyone is collecting drop bags from Loughton in a car and feels like being very kind and collecting mine, could you let me know? It will be hard and slightly depressing for me to get there. Will gladly pay in beer or whatever.

I've done some awful cycling in my time, but going over Yad Moss with massive headwind and torrential rain on approx 2 hours sleep since Sunday is probably worst.

I'm a DNF as well - in the fens, too much wind.
Loved day 1-3. Loads of new roads explored. And the volunteers were amazing.

Incredible 4 days. Loved it. Pulled a 27 hour shift to finish it off. Going to eat my Weight in hash browns And have a beer.

Ah, makes sense....I went to school at Davenant, but left in 1985... Mr Tillbrook was one of those teachers who left an impression on a young stedlocks....I'm not religious, but he wasn't 'preachy', even though he was a genuine Rev.!

Sorry to hear so many people have had a hard/shit time of it, I heard yesterday morning over 400 people had packed in the Scotland section, that must be up to 500 by now and I expect more today lots of people stayed in Brampton last night which will leave them a huge milage to do today.
I'm still on the road got 259k left.
I thought yad moss in the pissing rain was my worst ever time in the bike, then last night we decided to do the section from Brampton to Louth overnight with micro naps and we only had 2 hours the night before, this was a terrible idea there was nowhere to nap and it was raining. I blew up completely and was hallucinating really badly.
Have just had another 2 hours and a feed before getting on with it, legs feel fine, lack of sleep becoming annoying!

Keep going.
Tiredness is temporary, glory is forever.

Same for Yad Moss but that was before the first Southbound section!
the section from Brampton to Louth overnight
You meant from Pocklington to Louth? There's Barnard Castle, Thirsk and Pocklington between Brampton and Louth :P
Good luck for the rest of the ride! What's your rider number?

Go Brad! And congratulations @Thrasher.
Currently sat on train to Darlington wesring wet lycra. But got proper bed at Barnards Castle in return for doing some volunteering. Section from Brampton to Barnards Castle somehow took me 6 hours to do 80k. Keep remembering new bits of awfulness. Halfway down I realised I had to put on more layers and heavier gloves, then got totally confused and thought I'd got someone else's gloves as they didn't fit. Finally realised it was because my hands were swollen.
There were definitely some good bits as well. Need to go through my photos. Rode with some cheerful Thai riders through fens which was great. Enjoyed how much foreigh riders enjoyed the scenery.
Does anyone know when Loughton is open until on Friday for drop bag collection?
