Never really used the sidebar but actually this is worth exploring. I use an iMac so it'd be a mouse click rather than a swipe which is a bit of a pain but not that bad.
Can't see a way to get Trello into it but tbh if there's a good solution with another service then we're not that committed to Trello so can change (though it will be the... 8th(?) similar app I've trialled in the past 2 years!). Cheers

both the default calendar app (for your calendar bits) + wunderlist (for your todo bits, I imagine other todo apps are available that also have widgets) can appear in the mac notifications side bar as widgets, accessible with a two finger swipe from right edge of trackpad?
Fantastical is good and has a menu bar widget.
