What function do bikes have to have before they're functional? Having mudguards and big tyres isn't a function. Carrying stuff on racks is I guess

Cross post from the mums and dads thread.
My bike's carrying food and camp stove etc. His frame bag has card games to play while we have a break.

Mini frame bag is inspired. Custom or just a small one that happened to fit?

Thanks. It's just something like this. I had it lying around and it just happens to fit with the aid of zip-ties.
He really likes carrying his own stuff. Usually a game, sunglasses and some snacks.

I meant that as a tongue in cheek comment haha
I like the bike, but it's not all that functional -

That is amazing.

What's the forum go to functional commuter to recommend to a friend under the cycle to work scheme?
Flat bar, disc brakes, wider tyres, room for full guards.

• #16170
CdF?
-
• #16171
I'd say Genesis is a good shout.
Your friend may have to get used to drops or just get some cross tops added by the shop. -
• #16172
Yeah, love my Genesis Equilibrium disc +1 for them.
The Kaffenback has an option to come with flatbars if they're dead set on them.

• #16173
The Smithfield/Borough/ColumbiaRd seem OK and potentially better suited if it's only for commuting.

Credit card touring somewhere hot?

Planet X London Road?
Call that functional? Get in the sea.
