I'm definitely with you on that one. I understand driving cars fast being fun, but I'm looking forward to it being confined to private tracks.
It seems crazy to me that cars are sold that are basically designed to drive in a way that is illegal on roads. Especially when we're basically really bad at piloting these things. I cannot wait for cars to be self-driving and electric.I suppose my pessimism is more based on this government and their willingness to do anything that reflects well on them, as long as it doesn't involve actually doing anything.

You're still allowed horses and steam engines and other old forms of transport on the road. I doubt they'll ban fast cars, they'll just become really niche and really expensive to own over the next 50 years.

To add, I'm excited that the concept of "petrol/piston heads" will become increasingly more niche, and subsequently outdated, even antiquated.
A bit like steam train buffs.
