  • Just discovered a bit of an issue whilst sorting out my Brompton for BWC this weekend, the rear hinge is pretty loose with the bolt on the chainring side almost touching the chainring.
Will have to phone around tomorrow to see how quickly I can get a repair done, any suggestions for places other than bikefix? Preferably Eustony/central/north kind of area.

Plan B is one from the Brompton docks but without signing up to it I can't tell whether any of these are available. Can anyone check whether there are bikes available/are bikes generally available from these, preferably at Kings Cross (or Walthamstow/Whittington). @andyp I think you use it if you don't mind helping.

    Cheers all

  • Usually take between 45 minutes to an hour for a hinge replacement, but it sound like your is bad to the point that the rear triangle and possibly the frame may need replacing.

  • Ah another forumenger doing the BWC! Keep an eye out for a tall guy on a blue brompton, likely be wearing my black Carnac 'aero' pisspot helmet...

I've not ridden the Brompton for ages and have been meaning to wash it, strip mudguards etc off it and stick Kojaks on for the race. Also bought a new chain and sprockets but don't think I can be arsed to dick about fitting them...

Good luck getting the hinge replaced :)
